Last Friday a man entered the Checkered Flag auto dealership on Virginia Beach Boulevard and drove away with a 2008 Porsche Cayenne.

Trouble was, he didn't pay for it.

On Monday the man and the vehicle returned to the dealership. Surprised employees dialed 911 on the sly, and stalled the man in the service area until police arrived. With help from employees, officers arrested the man after a struggle.

Police aren't sure why the man came back, but if nothing else he was persistent, and apparently a big Cayenne fan. It turns out he had tried to steal the same model Jan. 22.

I'm not sure what's more amusing: that he came back, or that he had such a jones for the Cayenne. :yuck:

Police did not release details about how the man got the vehicle off the lot but said it was not a test drive.

Wait. Who stupid here? The dude or the dealer? They recognize the guy from the 22 Jan attempt, but let him back on the lot. And they don't keep their cars secure such that you can drive off without arranging for a test drive?

Parts of the story are missing.

Wait. Who stupid here?

Given where it takes place, I vote for "Everybody."

Yup, that gets my vote.

Police aren't sure why the man came back

So they stalled the guy but had no idea why he was there...

Every community has stupid criminals, even mine -

ALTON - A 35-year-old Bethalto man was charged with driving under the influence early Tuesday after his car allegedly hit some lane barriers in front of the Alton Law Enforcement Center.

The motorist, Matthew L. Vincent, 35, of the 200 block of Rue Sans Souci, registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.138 percent, an Alton Police Department report said.

Hey, you're nearly twice the legal limit, why not buzz by the police station. Nobody will notice
