It wasn't in HD for me. It was the typical crappy feed I always get. 320x240 stretched across 50" TV. that equates to about 16 pixels. :D

Does Speed have a dedicated HD channel that my provider doesn't offer?

DirecTV has Speed HD. The race looked nice, but it wasn’t stunning. I’ve seen much better resolution on different HD channels. Nevertheless, it was better than standard definition.

It *was* standard definition. It was 16:9 SD even on Speed HD, and (according to the ebay thread in Community... don't ask) that's the way it'll be all season.

Sucks.

320x240? That bad? Yikes.

Since we hi-jacked the ebay thread, is this an international broadcasting/bandwidth issue/limitation? How was the 2006 World Cup in HD?

No one watches HD in Europe; something like 5% of those who own HDTVs in Europe actually have HD programming.

Then again, sounds about on par with the U.S. :tony:

i'm pretty sure it was originally shot in hd. my hd recording on the computer seemed to be in better definition than the standard broadcast we watched.

They shoot F1 in good HD, look at the broadcast races last year... No Speed HD on my cable anyway :(

If you can struggle through the irony of the horrible grammar of this poster complaining that "asscar" and "rednecks" get HD, there's some good info about the 16:9 SD for F1 on Speed this year.

 Then it can't be a technological/international broadcasting issue. Cheap Bernie?

FWIW, I read somewhere that Bernie mandated HD broadcasts for all F1 television contracts starting in 2009. I was hoping that SPEED would just man up and start a year early. :(

It seems like this isn't SPEED's doing. The international feed provided by FOM just isn't in HD. SPEED needs to get it from the host broadcaster, which would seem doubtful.

Were any races besides the USGP on FOX last year in HD?
