RON Dennis will decide for himself whether to stay on as McLaren team principal this season or hand over to designated heir Martin Whitmarsh, team sources said.

Whitmarsh either telling lies or deluding himself:

"There's no pressure either on me or from me."

"No pressure at all, Mercedes is really pleased with how things went last season!" (sarcasm detector on) :shakehead

On the bottom line on Speed they had a report from the British Press saying Ron would retire this week. I'm not buying it and there's no buzz from Autosport's site on this.

It's hard to picture Ron Dennis leaving McLaren without a security escort and restraining devices.

Even if he gave up the title of Team Principal I doubt he would give up much control. Maybe he lets Whitmarsh be more the public face and have the official title but Ron is still the boss hogg in his fiefdom and will be till he sees fit to go away, going away also presents the opportunity of royally screwing some else or ideally both.

Nice guy though, real sweetheart. Also excellent at managing two drivers at a time. Prost, Coulthard, Blundell, Montoya, Kimi, Andretti 2 and Alonso have a special fan club for Ron on Facebook.
