I've always suspected that personal vendettas between Internet narcissists was more important than the racing to about 90% of the people who post here: probably why KK decided he couldn't turn the business around by putting on better races.

Very true.

If GF is willing to dig into his pocket to pay for excellent racing, I don't give a **** whether he gives a hard card to Robin Miller or paper; their audience - and the amount they get paid to write about racing - is about the same size anyway.

I've spent plenty of money on tickets, trinkets, food, transport, lodging, etc. I probably have more "skin" in the game than Gentilozzi. And I bet you do too.

I think I may have too ..

I have traveled out of state for 61 races since 1993, flying to most of them on my own dime.

I would like to throw in with you guys but if there's only 12-14 cars on the grid it's gonna be tough. In any case I will not be following (let alone a fan of) the hirl. :irked:

Yeah, 12-14 would be rough, but I would rather keep this thing going with a small field than let this sellout happen. The only way open wheel continues is to let the .1RL continue to erode to the point where their only option is to sit down at the table with ChampCar and discuss a true merger that makes sense for everyone and will grow the sport. If we cave in now and let the .1RL run open wheel racing on it's current trajectory, the whole damn thing will be gone in 5-10 years. I don't like small fields and I don't know the financials, but I believe a small ChampCar now will be better for everyone down the road.

If Forsythe wants to continue this dick swinging contest with 12 cars (more like 8) I will go poop on his lawn, I'm not that far away. Calling it ChampCar doesn't make it ChampCar. At some point fans have to realize they aren't being considered in this.

I'm not emotionally investing myself in one Gazillionare over another for anything let alone what they told IndyCar fans what they stood for in the mid 90s which in reality was their own ego and pocketbook. None of these pricks would piss on any one of us if we were on fire so they can all eat my ass.

Seriously?

At some point, it just becomes revolting to watch. Seventeen cars was tough to take, but what if it's 12? What if it's 9? Spec cars that nobody can do anything with. Several drivers I've never heard of even though I'm a racing fan.

At this point, it's really just desecrating the dead body of CART.

Of course, having said all of this, I think the best thing would be for everyone to admit that trying to force this thing together in 2008 is too chaotic, sit down at the same table, and work out the best situation for everyone in 2009. Right now, all the chaos seems to be scaring all the ChampCar teams off and that doesn't work. I don't want to see a buyout, but a merger definitely makes the most sense - but only in a win-win scenario.

Hope you like cars in varying shades of blue and white.

But I'm in, what the hell, why not? No one will expect ANYTHING from CC everyone will expect EVERYTHING from the IRL now that nearly all of the CART teams are there. First off, he's railed against Tony George and the IRL unrelentingly for 13 years.

Second, he's a journalist and it's not his purview to do the "right thing" for the sport.

Third, IMO, he's right.

It's a pity that Champ Car is probably toast, but the whole series has devolved into a big nothing with cool cars and some decent venues. The TV sked was the last straw for me - it's an unfollowable "series" and that's that.

"Alleged?" Saying that he makes things up is a little thing called, "exaggeration for comic effect." I hear it's all the rage with the funny people these days. You should check it out on the you tubes.

Is this making the rounds though as a hot rumor? Seems like giving up Long Beach would be a bit steep don't you think?

I think we're going to hear every rumor possible before this is all over.

Autoracing1.com is saying Montegi will still go on as scheduled and the EARL will NOT be racing at Long Beach. As the world turns...

Supposedly there's no signed contract for 2008 for the race in Nashville. An excellent opportunity for the promoter to bail on that show. Of course, nobody is going to miss the 60K "sellouts" announced at a track with only 25k in seating, 5k of which are closed off for the IRL event. If it wasn't for Firestone handing out freebies to their employees at the Lavergne plant there would be no one there at all.
