Good thing Penske jiggered things so he'd start no matter what on the car owner provisional points earned by Kurt Busch last season. It would only be fitting that Busch crashes out of the qualifying race and DNQs.

What a crock!

What a crock!

He'd be eligible for the past champion provisional.

But I thought the same thing when I heard about the point swap. Kurt could end up not starting a race if he somehow falls out of the top 35 and Hornish has (and he will) used all of Kurt's provisionals.

Only if the mechanics remove the Nascar rulebook from the dashboard.

I thought the champions provisional applies to the past champion.

For the first 5 races of the season, the top 36 cars start each race. from the 6th race on the top 36 cars in owners points start.

The Toyotas look strong, cant wait for the special carburettor to be introduced before the race

Busch is a past champion. I believe the most recent past champion would be awarded the spot if more than one needed it. And it's the top 35, not 36. Seven spots for non top 35, one for past champ. If no past champ, 8 spots for non top 35.

Trish has it right I believe. The start of the year is based on last year's points. RP transfer the #2 points to Hornish so he would be sure to get in. Busch will get in anyway because he is a past champion.

After five races it gets more interesting

Don't they all have to crash into each and talk smack in qualifying races before the final field for the big race is decided? I doubt if I can stay awake, but I might watch Daytona because of Yoda and all the furrin' drivers.

I see. :) I didnt understand how Sam could use up all of Kurt's provisionals. Kurt just has to qualify in the top 7 of 'outside the top 35 drivers' to make the race without having to use a provisional. Penske is just barging Sham into the Cup field, some other deserving wanker will have to pack up and go home. What a rule, brought to you by the Brain France Familly Trust of Grate Ideas. Wonder what The Sham will have to give up in his Neckcar career as payback to Kurt Busch? maybe Hornish-daddy will be body guard proection against Tony Stewart.

I'm still trying to grasp on to reality when I look at that list and see Juan Pablo Montoya, Jaques Villenueve, Dario Franchitti and AJ Allmendinger.

Strange days indeed.

Thanks a lot Tony. :flame:

With AOW in full-on meltdownification mode, ol' Jack Vile-enough winning Daytona in a Toyota might be enough to collapse the entirety of American motorsport as we currently know it.

So I say, for the first time ever: Go Jacques. :D

I think Tony Stewart's head would explode if he won Daytona in a Toyota. He's not a happy camper about JGR's switch, and he's been a surly-McSurlypants since getting down to Daytona. Winning would cause a complete meltdown in Victory Lane.

Toyota is strong this year. Anyone who expected Toyota to be NASCAR's lap dog again this year doesn't know shat about how TRD works.
