Someone released Van Helen original tracks of the lead vocals. It is pretty funny how much he is not singing and just screaming in "Running with the Devil"

Pure dry (no effects) vocals straight off the board with no back tracks always sounds funny (rock music). I don't care who you are.

It's amazing what a little compression and verb will do.

And of course with today's software i.e. ProTools, pitch correction is common place. I heard a dry board cut of Janet Jackson. Un-freakin-believable. My dog can sing better.

There was a band called the Beatles that made that multi-track stuff popular in the mid sixties.
Thank them for the comedy. :)

Does anybody remember the concert sound board track from Linda McCartney singing about 7-1/2 notes flat? Oh my.

Howard Stern aired it many years ago on his radio show. I'm not sure if this is it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoH9zP_n_g0) or not, but I think it might be.

This video is fake, just like those funny guitar solo videos that are going around spoofing Santana and other bands. As for David Lee Roth, in the 80s he was the worst vocalist I ever saw live, but he's really gotten his act together now. I saw him in December and he was doing great. Giving up booze drugs and working out like a Formula One race car driver has paid off dividends.

I'm not suggesting that the video is authentic, just saying that the audio is most likely what Howard aired on his radio show several years ago.

You sounded like an old fashion cabaret singer. Randy? Paula? I say no.

DLR live was bloody awful...I saw VH as the headliners at the US festival in 19** and they got on stage an hour late and he was out of his tree...he forgot the lyrics to the opening number and thought it was hysterical...me? Not so much...I'd spent the entire day baking in the So Cal sun and was not best amused...E VH stayed on the far side of the stage from DLR and I left after Eddie's solo...The Scorpions ROCKED that day though...

Dood, I don't think they have video that syncs up with the soundtrack. This isn't MTV. We are talking about the singing, work with me here! :D

I saw DLR a couple of years ago and he blew goat wang. He was also booed off the stage

Q-95 birthday party, Indiana State Fairgrounds

I only went to meet Pat Travers, and was walking out when Mr Roth took the stage.

And to think, he might be the most sane member of Van Halen these days. :saywhat:

Gotta give him credit for one thing, though: putting on a radio show worse than Opie & Anthony is no easy feat.
