I read elsewhere that this is extra good news, because Bernoldi is someone people have heard of.

I guess Pedro Diniz was busy this year. :\

Nice looking car.

 But there isn't much about the company on the net. I can't even find a corporate website.

Their South African site though talks a bout an F1 education program to get kids 11+ interested in science and engineering. http://www.sangari.co.za/news_room.html

Looks pretty thin as a company and no mention I can find anywhere of moving into the US market. :irked:

FWIW

“We decided to sponsor Enrique because he has great competitive potential, besides being a very charismatic person,” said Ben Sangari, owner of the company.

“Although we are a multi-national company, we do not have business in USA. Recently, we made a partnership with the American Museum of Natural History and we opened an office in North Carolina. Therefore, it is very important to initiate the process of construction of Sangari’s brand and Champ Car has a great visibility in the North American territory,” Sangari continued.
love that last sentence.

From the same press release"

The Brazilian company has more than 40 years of dedication developing solutions for the improvement of the education by using science education and technology.

Now I'm only a product of public education and I can spell "opportunistically" but does that sound wrong coming from an education company.

And the SA website says the company was founded in the UK in 1965.

But so long as the check clears

Is Sangari Portugese for Lexington?

that is a cool looking paint job. And it's not red!

Andrew Longman
02-01-08, 05:43 PM
And it's not red! Whoa, yes. Good point! I like it even more. I also think it will show up well on TV (assuming anyone is watching) and I've always thought that was an important point. In fact I've long thought that the series should need to approve your paint scheme and even give solid input on how to design a compelling livery. A grid or good looking cars is a big part of fan and sponsor appeal.

It's not so much the foreign part as it is the vaporware part.

But I guess that's be expected from a niche sport. :gomer:

I've just leafed through 5 pages of hits on Sangari + Brazil from Google and there are plenty more pages that I won't bother to look at.

They ran the statement by Miss Teen South Carolina, and she didn't have a problem with it.

For those that did not see that race...

F1 Enrique Bernoldi vs David Coulthard GP Monaco 2001 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZWPBNVZKdc)

Love how they were giving Enrique the blue flag when it was a battle for position.

I wonder how Bernoldi (and his sponsors) feel about racing in KY and IA.

The more drivers that sign contracts to drive in Champ Car and Atlantics the less credence I can give to Miller's pipe dream.
