I need some recommendation for HTML editor software, preferably freeware.

I need some recommendation for HTML editor software, preferably freeware.

It's been forever and a day since I've had any experience with HTML editors. Our Web developers used to favor Homesite (not freeware, but reasonable), but I don't think they've released a new version in a long time. Avoid Frontpage @ all costs, as it bloats your code with excessive comments, etc. Check out Tucows for freeware and shareware apps to try out:

I generally use text editors like TextPad these daze for writing bits and pieces of HTML, etc.

Dude, only if you know tags. In which case, I would suggest TextPad for $30. It rawks. :thumbup:

Actually I suggest UltraEdit, it rawks more. ;)

It's what us pros use.

Meh, I've used both, but you monkeys write the code, I just manage 'em. :p

Been there, done that many times. :( (I'm realistic about it, unlike many other managers/cos.) Now that I'm, managing mostly contract resources, it's not an issue...not so much. :(

If you need a WYSIWYG editor, you can try Web Dwarf.

On a Mac you would have to choose BBEdit 8.7.
For free you can use textwrangler
