"For those who have their evil, twisted conspiracy hats on, we want to put that to rest,'' Darby said, according to the AP. "If it was sabotage, it would have to be the kind of thing where someone hates NASCAR racing across the board."

Um, if anyone asks, I was with you guys the whole time, right? Watching a movie. Yeah, that's it. Days of Thunder, in fact. (whistles innocently)

NASCAR knows how to get headlines. If the racing isn't doing it...make something up.

"It's really difficult to pinpoint," he said. "We have to almost work backwards."
Shouldn't be too hard. They've had plenty of practice.

Ford first noticed water in Hamlin's car during the first pit stop.

"We found water in our catch can," he said. "The first restart after that the car stumbled for a couple of laps. It stumbled after the first couple of stops, actually.

Did he not complain immediately to officials about it? Bad gas is a slight disadvantage towards winning the race.

And if it would be seen in the catch can from early in the race, and the problem was wide spread, you'd think others would have seen it.

Curious problem. Why wasn't the problem seen on Friday and Sat? Why some teams and not others? Why some more than others?

Hmmm

A bag of caltrops would liven up any NASCRAP race.

What, a REAL reason for a yellow flag?

Maybe someone accidently pumped some Busch Beer into the fuel rigs.

That sounds totally plausable. There is a lot of water in Busch beer.

They axed me to rinse out the catch cans so I stuck a hose in 'em and rinsed 'em out! So I didn't drain 'em all the way. Big deal.:irked:

Ironic

Atlanta is going to run out of water in around 80 days and they're finding it in cup car gas tanks at the track.

I was thinking that the crews might have been using the catch cans as "trucker's friends" during those long, boring green periods.
