The Champ Car schedule (which will evidently include a race at the Nurburgring) won’t be out for a few more weeks because Kevin Kalkhoven is trying to secure a date with Dubai (and that’s why he’s missing this weekend’s show in Australia before heading home for the JDS Uniphase class-action lawsuit and trial in Oakland.

And Portland may still be part of the CC schedule…but as a street race?

Is Las Vegas dumping CC for the IRL? Lawsuit to follow?

Dubai? Well the Dubai Autodromo did run one A1GP a couple of years ago and it is a 3.35 mile road course. It would be a nice midnight race on ESPN ocho...

Portland street race? Has Robin ever been to Portland? That is stupid beyond words.

Las Vegas - whatever

So what....

Stop twisting in your shorts with this BS. Until they drop dead or screw themselves so far into the ground we're gonna be fans.

****, draw the line. Other than a sell-out to FTG or an out of business sign, I'm buying tickets. Robin is just doing his job......that's if they'll still race in this country. And then the IRL can lick my shorts....

What gives you the idea any of us are "twisting in our shorts"?

For some, you twist in your delight for the failure. For some, you twist in your delight for the success.

They're racing tonight, as much as we love it, it sucks. As much as it sucks we love it.

It's either gonna die or live, why stress about it?

Chief I say this with respect, we have all resigned ourselves to that fact. It is your constant denial of problems that shows who is the stressed one.

Thank you for your fine respect. I too ridicule it's pitiful existance...BUT I'm a long time fan who will not EVER give up hope that it will someday rise from the ashes. Some have hope and I am one of few.

The future is not your opinion. THAT I'm am clear of....

Oriol is on pole....can you not see the cooolness in that?

Get a grip.

I'd happily watch a Nurburgring CCWS race
I'd happily watch a Dubai F1-ish road course CCWS race
See I don't give a damn where a race is as long as it is on a road course.
Hell I never miss a GP2 or F1 race, you really think a midnight start time for a ccws race is going to bother me?

If Robin thinks that anyone is going to run a street race (that uses cars) in downtown Portland he is absolutely insane. Have you ever been there?

And as for Vegas - wgaf one way or the other.

The only one twisting around here is you.

And as for Vegas - wgaf one way or the other.

Actually, I do - I was there this year and had a blast. Seems odd to me that you'd question who'd care about that race - great street track too IMO.

I was also at the last race at the LV Speedway, and also had a blast. So I guess I double GAF. :D

I have a hard time believing that anyone 'in the know' in Champ Car is speaking to Robin.

..but what about the drivers? Will a race in half a dozen countries mean we get to see a different line up for every race? :gomer:
Awesome!

5-22-07:

I'd like to see them try and run a Portland street race. The idiocy given PIR's great location would be beyond defending.

Which is exactly why it should be fully expected.

As long as Kevin and Gerry wanna pony up the money Champ Car will continue.

It would be a lot cheaper if they brought in professional management, but it's their money, and although I have no idea what will cure America's apathy toward open wheel, I'm sure good racing will help--which takes sponsorship, which requires better racing, etc.
