I've always had a thing for Mopars and quirky cars and ran across this Mopar powered Consulier GTP while surfin' for pr8n.

I remember this car from the car mags when it was released.

Kinda looks like a Grand Am DP, but better.

Yes, I remember it well. It tore up it's SCCA stock class back in the day. It was even uglier in person than it is in the photos.

I remember that car from the movie The Wraith with Charlie Sheen and Randy Quaid. It was killer. :p

The black car featured in the movie was a real-life technological wonder, the Dodge M4S. A joint effort of the Dodge Division of Chrysler Motors and PPG Industries, one of the highly sophisticated PPG Pace Cars for the PPG-CART Indy Car World Series. The M4S was designed and constructed at an estimated cost of $1.5 million, and featured performance and technology to match that lofty figure. The innovative body design was developed in the Chrysler studios, while PPG developed the finish--a special bronze pearl paint job formulated just for this car. The M4S was powered by a Chrysler 2.2-liter four-cylinder one-of-a-kind engine that exceeded 194 mph.

I saw a "Consulier" based WSC car racing on the road course at IRP in 1994. It was ugly and slow. I don't remember what powered it, but that was the year of the Dallara built Ferrari 333 and various specials with interesting production car engines -- James Weaver had a Ferrari DOHC V8 and somebody had a BMW 6.
