Robin suggesting the IRL use the Hanford Device!

LOL!!!!!!

• The IRL didn’t have many good oval races this season (Sunday’s was a yawner until the last lap) and the field is either strung out or all bunched up in Kamikaze mode waiting on the inevitable crash.

Since the IRL has copied just about everything else from the old CART days, why not contact Mark Handford? His aerodynamic Handford Device in the late ’90s created non-stop passing, drafting and the most exciting 500-mile races ever staged.

Nope. Take the wings OFF! ALL of 'em! Then we'd see some creative bodywork.:D

push-to-pass would fix the oval thing.

Watch for it...

Watch for it... So would six inch wide tires and no wings.

I have a gut feeling that the IRL jockies were falling all over themselves to get the paddle shifter once they heard Champ Car had it. I'm sure push to pass was in the conversation.

Hey, if they had paddle shifters, then Danika wouldn't need power steering, maybe, right? Both hands on the wheel at all times.

BRILLIANT!

take off 1/3 of the downforce....that should liven the "racing" up. milka might be competitive then, i don't think she drives fast enough to generate downforce....

Old pics of the real deal are a lot more interesting than that stupid painting.

Nuvolari never asked for more downforce or drag.

Nuvolari never asked for more downforce or drag. And amazingly enough he died in his sleep...

Imagine how fast he would have been if they had built his car with the rear tire touching the ground!!!

Nuvolari never asked for more downforce or drag. The photo might be more interesting, but the painting has flames in it and this is an IRL thread. :gomer:

Don't know for certain but didn't Nuvolari come to Auto Union late in the game, replacing Rosemeyer after he was killed in that record run in 1938? If so he would have driven the Type D in '38 and both the painting and the pic look like the Type C that ran in '36 and '37. Could it be Rosemeyer, Stuck or Varzi? (I'd say Rosemeyer in the painting because he won 6 of 12 rounds in '36 and may have run a #1 Type C in '37?)

The photo shows Hermann Muller at Donington in 1937, assuming the pic was taken during the race.

But guess I was wrong about the painting ...oops.
