Team Australia had a fire while fueling up their demo car today.
Story here (http://www.teamaustraliamotorsport.com/latest_news.asp).

For a professional race team they looked pretty bush league ie: fire was put out with water from drink bottles.

Walker and Gore have been at it a lot of years.

SOP for methanol fires is to throw any and all water at it. Sounds like they did fine.

Glad everyone is OK. Glad they are promoting the race. Too bad the folks didn't get to see the demonstration laps.

just saw it on the news
-there was no water on standby
-fuel cell was dodgy (according to power it exploded)
-seat back was attacked by the flames badly
-gore hasn't been at it very long at all-and i doubt it had anything to do with him anyway (wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't there at all)

Thank God they have 45 days to sort everything out :gomer:

If there were no buckets on stand by then that in itself is inexcusable.

didn't get that from the Team Oz webpage

And on top of all that, an invisible fire is boring to watch anyway.

I don't think any of the CCWS team was there as the V8 Supercar team runs the demo car over in Australia.

From story here (http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,22374603-5012789,00.html).

Despite the fact they were refueling the car, no-one thought to have a fire extinguisher close by?

Amateurs.
