View Full Version : What do you guys think of Dan Clarke?

At first I liked him. I though he had some potential. He crashed a lot, made a lot of mistakes, but he also ran upfront. Therefore, I hoped that he would improve in his second season and be a consistent point score and maybe win a few. But, that hasn't happened. To be honest he brings a budget so it's ultimately his sponsor's decision if he sticks around or not. But, if this wasn't the case I say forget about giving him another shot for 2008. There are way too many guys in Atlantics & GP2 that would do better in his seat. Not to mention Nelson Phillipe....

Anyone who passes in the grass between the kink and Canada is all-right with me

He's a Brit Robby Gordon. Natural talent but a complete rock head.

On a few occasions he has reminded me of a young Paul Tracy.

I said it in chat and i'll say it again.

I see a little bit of Gilles in Dan Clarke.

I also see alot of Shiggy in Dan Clarke. :shakehead

At first I thought he was like Servia when he started. He was scary fast but mostly scary. Then he found his level and became a fairly good racer. Dan never found his level. Today proved that.

Agree w/the PT and RG analogies. Two of my all time favorites.

If there was more dough backing the series and teams he'd be very entertaining.

But considering where Champ Car is now, he's probably parked because we're a wreck or two away from a hitch hiking contest.

Mad skills and no brain. Bought his way into the big cars way too soon.

The IRL will grab him.

He could be flying in no time.

i always wondered why he had a hat with his own name on it, and came to the conclusion that it woud help him find it if he lost it.

I think he's hilarious... and fast!

And dangerous. And unprofessional.

The hat or his head?

Then he and Dan Wheldon could do dangerous things to each other. There is something about being English and being named Dan that makes you act like a comlpte R-Tard in a race car.

Seeing him interviewed on during the prerace with that stupid hat on just reinforced to me that he is a Major League Dufus with sponsorship and middling driving talent. Seems to have the interview skills just a smidge better than Quattro.

Clarke has caused carnage at every level he's competed. His PR is about as subtle as well. He can be quick over one lap but has never learned consistency or that a race isn't won in a single corner. Probably should have saved some cash and went to the World Series by Renault instead of Champ Car.

I doubt Cotman will suspend him, but making him wear a sandwich board with,

"I'm Dan Clarke,
& I'm a wanker."

would be a fitting punishment.

He just was suspended... or do you mean for another race?

I think his hat already says "wanker". :D

I defended him at the beginning of the season, I'm not defending him anymore. Leave Dominguez in the car for the rest of the season and sort it out between Dominguez, Andrew Ranger, and Nelson Phillipe for next season.

They aren't bringing cash. No cash, no ride. That's why Clarke is there.

This is an example of where a new paradigm, excuse the cliché, has to apply: Rather than every man for himself, Wiggins and Stoddard have to look to the best interests of the series so that, as the series succeeds, they can succeed.

Clarke has to go because he is an embarrassment; Gentillozzi has to go because he is a knuckle dragging moron, and they have to be replaced with people who can represent the sport and the series well.

Hire drivers who know what they are doing and the quality of the racing will improve. Draw in team owners who are decent, intelligent and articulate, and the fans and media will respect them. Hire Milka Dunno and Dan Clarke, and rationalize the involvement of porno Paul: you deserve to be laughed at, and you will be.

In the meantime crew members, Bridgestone, Champ Car, Cosworth, Pi, Elf, OZ, Highway diesel stops, toll booths, hotels, rental car agencies, airlines and K&K Insurance all demand to be paid right now.
