I've seen this a few times, as a geek I'm wondering about when you lock a thread, I will usually see the icon as a lock and then a little bit later it is a red flag. Is there some upgrade or backup that keeps switching that image on you?

I've noticed that, too. Fortunately it's not normally a common enough occurance that I've bothered to investigate. Nothing is changing the images on the server so my guess is that it's referenced differently depending on the page. I'll snoop around and see if I can find it.

I always thought it showed locked when a locked thread is first viewed, and then as a red flag always afterwards....but I've never really paid much attention to it.

Lock is instantaneous, red flag needs a refresh. That's what I always thought, anyways.

It came up again finally. :)

Maybe you want to use the red flag for both? You won't be able to differentiate between new and existing, but short of a new flag, what can you do?

Thanks for spotting this. I never noticed that there was a separate icon for the new locked thread. I'll probably just use the red flag for both.

Sure thing. I wanted to know too. :)
