Was there at the Staples Center watching when it happened. The thud was sickening. There must be some sort of tape delay because, believe me, he was down several minutes longer than that clip shows.

We could see when he hit but not where he slid to so we sat for a minute and then moved a little. Stood there for several minutes, then went up stairs to get some liquid refreshments. While in THAT line, he finally got up. Unbelievable.

Afterward they were checking his pupils and then took him out of the Center on a gurney.

After that the MotoX Best Trick seemed tame.

Nyuk, nyuk. Yep. Just goes to show ya there's a little life left in the old 'Gal yet.

What they said was first silence because everyone was stunned. Then something like, "Oh this is awful. You always hate to see something like that. We have the very best medical care professionals in the world... etc." Almost the exact same words that are used to describe the Champ Car Safety Team. It felt like a long time, although it was probably less than five minutes until he walked off.

Have to give the Staples Center people credit. The instant he hit, they changed the monitors to some swirly X thing. No zooming in on his motionless body.

Good to see him (on TV) today out of the hospital at the Home Depot Center watching Carmichael, et al. For a guy from Sydney Australia, he sure sounds like he's from New Yawk.

And Ank, in case those socks have not yet left their tethers, I have indeed stood next to Ricky Carmichael at a motocross event.
