The 25 year old native of Belgium was there to formally announce his participation in the upcoming inaugural Grand Prix of Belgium, which takes place on August 26.

Heylen, who spent his 2006 rookie year with Dale Coyne Racing, will face his home town crowd driving the #42 car for Eric Bachelart & Conquest Racing.

“It’s great to be able to drive my home race,” Heylen told ChampCarWorld.net. “At this moment we’re still working on a full-time deal and I expect to return already in Portland to this series. I’m also very happy to announce this news in front my home country and I expect that all publicity after this announcement will help me with getting a full-time seat.”

As of this announcement, Heylen has 85% of the full-time budget and it is speculated that he could be in a car as soon as Portland possibly replacing rookie Matt Halliday who was originally only signed to a 3 race deal.
