I love jumping on him as much as anyone, but...
The animal rights group PETA has asked Falcons owner Arthur Blank to suspend Vick pending the investigation and "to kick him off the team if it is found that dogs on Vick's property were neglected or used for fighting."
In a letter to Blank, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said it was the second time it was writing to the owner about one of his players and allegations of cruelty to animals.
State Police Sgt. D.S. Carr said Vick's relative, Davon Boddie, 26, lives in the house. Vick owns the property, but does not live there and was not present when a search warrant was executed in a drug investigation Wednesday night, Carr said.

It seems quite extensive though. His cousin was living there and there was 75 dogs, concrete pads, lots of fences/cages. Doggy treadmill and other training apparatus. I find it hard to believe that he would have no clue.
With as much $$$ as he gives back to VT, I don't doubt every single relation he was ever remotely close to has room & board, or the equivalent, on his dime. Mom, lil bro, uncles, aunts, cousins, godparents...
then again he could be in on it...

All I need to know about this case: Surry County. You'd probably have better luck finding a house there that didn't have hoards of mistreated animals. Seriously, this case is extreme, but not by as much as you might think for that area.

With two more co-defendants distancing themselves from Michael Vick, the embattled Falcons quarterback was considering whether to accept a plea agreement for his alleged role in a dogfighting operation.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on its Web site that attorneys for Vick were in plea negotiations Tuesday afternoon with federal prosecutors. Collins R. Spencer III, a spokesman for Vick's lawyers, declined to comment when reached by the newspaper.

:confused: It's not hearsay. They had 4 witnesses, and now 3 of his co-defendants are going to cooperate. He's screwed unless his defense team has some unquestionable proof he was in no way involved. He only walks by luck IMO, which would be some pretty crazy dice to roll.

I'm not talking about the co-defendants' testimony, I'm talking about the crazy sheet from out in the sticks. The official charges are just the tip of the iceberg.

I remember reading that the Feds have a 95% conviction rate on indictments (can't remember if that was a stat specifically to the court where Vick is indicted or overall). Either way, the Feds don't bring an indictment unless they've got the goods. So, yes, Mr Vick is effed.
Radio reports were speculating this morning whether Vick would be able to have a career if he pleads and does time.

Curiosity got the better of my wife and she tracked down that case...
I looked up the case of Jonathan Lee Riches v. George Bush et al. on our internal pacer, and printed out the nine-page complaint. The first six pages contain a single-spaced list of defendants. The rest is just stupid (he mentions that George Bush is a time traveler, then he mentions something about two ingrown toenails, and it goes on). If the guy isn't crazy, he's a jackass (I'm thinking the latter). The complaint was dismissed because he never paid a filing fee or filed permission to proceed without payment (i.e., in forma pauperis). Then he filed a motion to recuse the judge (which was denied). He has since appealed the dismissal order. Our tax dollars at work.
Like I said they are funny unless they happen to land on your desk.:shakehead

He'd be crazy not too. Although personally, I never agreed with the teams ability to do that. If you cut a guy, you eat the signing bonus (Ricky Williams). If the guy no shows, you should get some back (Barry Sanders). Even though Vick is a POS, the Falcons should only be able to recover $3.7M/yr for as long as he's on the team.

That's the one that really irks me (and now Jake Plummer). The Saints sign him to a deal and give him the signing bonus. Then they trade him to the Dolphins. The Saints take the entire cap hit for the bonus when they trade him, but then later, the Dolphins are able to get back signing bonus money they never paid. And it wasn't even just the remaining portion like with Barry Sanders.
Vick is suspended indefinitely.

What did he expect? Considering he could have gotten 5 years I'd say that's pretty good.
He'll be out in 18 months... just in time to open training camp. Imagine that.

It was longer than the 12-18 months the prosecutors recommended and more than the federal sentencing guidelines. He also has state charges and a possible NFL suspension, so he may be out of Federal custody in time for 2009 training camp, but he probably won't be playing then.
