I'm so happy. The last piece of the worst NFL announce team in history (Patrick, Maguire, Theismann) is gone. Jaworski showed during the alternate MNF game first weekend last season that he is fantastic in the booth.

Get rid of the celebrity interviews and MNF will finally rock again.

After a weekend of listening to Billy Packer and Bill Rafferty, bring back the announcerless booth. :\

Not to disagree but Gumble/Collingsworth are the worst announcing team of any sport for all time past, present and future.

Theismann will now have more time to devote to his career selling low cost term life insurance. My sympathies to those forced to watch day time cable television.

That is excellent news!!

Agreed on the Collingsworth comments too...unbelievably annoying...

I was talking to Theismann last night in the hotel and . . .

I think Collinsworth just got a bad partner. Gumbel was so horrible -- voice was terribly wrong, never called down and distance, always wanted to relate what was going on to different games instead of being a good play by play guy -- that Collinsworth ended up trying too hard to salvage it.

Paul Maguire, for my money, is the worst announcer in all of football. "I'm a tell you what" after every third play almost killed me. But last year's MNF made me realize that Maguire's incompetence was only masking Theismann's, and when he was gone, Theismann got his chance to, erm, "shine".

I don't really give a crap about Joe Theisman one way or the other, but it's pretty obvious that the Monday Night Football folks are getting pretty desperate. How mnay years in a row have they changed the booth crew now? Six? Seven? Forty three?

You have just made the rest of the week and maybe a lot longer than that for TravelGuy. He RANTED everytime Theissman was on. STFU (not in those words). Never a quiet moment. Come to think of it, I'm going to enjoy the games more myself now. ;)

Man, he and Kornheiser just didn't gel at all. Really cumbersome exchanges.

And as someone whose tib/fib snapped every bit as nasty as JoeyT's, thanks for bringing back the pencil reference, Rob!
