A few of you asked a couple of months ago of we (ChampCar.nl) were planning to add an english version to news site. Well, here you are!

North America (March 19, 2007) – Today, ChampCar.nl, the leading Dutch site for Champ Car World Series news along with it’s German sister site, launched their latest expansion project, ChampCarWorld.net. This international web portal will bring a fresh take and up to the minute news, reviews and exclusive interviews to Champ Car fans spanning the globe. With the introduction of ChampCarWorld.net, ChampCar.nl will now be able to offer the latest Champ Car news in English. While all three sites will be accessible via the ChampCarWorld.net portal, the original Dutch news site will retain the ChampCar.nl name.

Two years ago, Patrick Straver, founder and managing editor of ChampCar.nl, set out to make the Champ Car World series accessible to Dutch motor sports fans. Written in their native language with a focus on the Dutch drivers, the site was an instant success with its readers and quickly grew in popularity. This lead to demands by European fans for sites in other languages and the launch of the German site in October of 2006.

At that time plans were already in motion for the third and largest expansion of the site, aiming to include the North/South American, British and Australian fan base. The endgame being to merge the sites together to form one main portal, complete with new logo and name change.

“We are obviously very excited with the launch of the English site and the ChampCarWorld.net name for our international site,” said ChampCar.nl / ChampCarWorld.net founder Patrick Straver. “We already have seen a lot of English speaking Champ Car fans visiting our Dutch and German sites, so we believe that it is very important to also offer our news in English. It will also give us the possibility to raise the quality and quantity of our news to even a higher level. We may add one other language within one year, as there is one country with a lot of Champ Car drivers, but for sure not enough media attention.”

“We’ve been working on the new site for more than three months and I believe we have found a great team. They are very motivated and I have a lot of confidence that they will do a great job. This season will be very exciting for us. Our Dutch site is the official news partner of the Dutch Champ Car Grand Prix and at this time we are working on similar deals with other events. I’d like to thank our new and current editorial teams for the great job they’ve done so far.

Heading up the North American or English-speaking portion of the team, is managing editor & US native Natalie Krause.

“I am very excited about the launch of ChampCarWorld.net and to have the opportunity to share new and exclusive information with our readers”, said Krause on the eve of the launch. “The contributing editors on the North American team are passionate about Champ Car and are very proud to be involved with this project. All have different areas of expertise as well as levels of experience and are looking forward to learning from each other as the website develops and grows. I personally am looking forward to the great progress we will make moving forward with the season and to growing together as friends and colleagues.”

The timing of the launch, by plan, coincides with the start of the 2007 season, the debut of the new DP01 chassis, and the expansion of the series back into Europe. Contributors from all three sites will cover each race and related event live, which will hopefully make ChampCarWorld.net the go-to global website for up-to-the moment and unique news regarding the Champ Car World Series.

Key members of the CCW team will be in Las Vegas for the season opener and inaugural running of the Vegas Grand Prix and look forward to meeting you all there and throughout the 2007 Champ Car World Series season.

See you at the races!
