Pretty cool. Standing starts were interesting. You can see some really had it down (Bourdais) and others not as well. They started to roll just a bit before taking off. Also got to see the onboard starter in action.

i don't understand how standing starts are different from just pulling out from a pit stop.... "hold it, hold, it, gogogogogo..."

or is it just understanding how to do it in the panoz, as opposed to the old lolas?

The guys that were stalling had run up against the rev-limiter and it would cut out at just the wrong time and stall. Those that stayed below the limit to avoid the cutout had no problem. Slight software change is supposed to cure it for all. Probably won't be used in Vegas. CC didn't sound too worried about it but wants more practice after the changes.

It seems you want to get the revs up and avoid wheel spin. With pit stops, you take off as soon as you can and are trying to only get up to the pit lane speed limit. On pit stops, they almost want wheel spin to get out of the pit stall (at least that's how it seems to me). That's how I see it anyway.

The cars don't sound to good on the rev limiter. I don't know, the whole field up against the rev limiters is gonna sound pretty awful.

The g. agrees. "Daddy, I don't like the sound when they make that noise, but they sound great after."

That was great. Thanks from someone who really wanted to be there in person and just couldn't get away.

Remind me again why Champ Car's not racing there anymore?

Oh, right, because the people who run the series are morans. :shakehead

I thought the Morans ran a karting track. :gomer:

CCWS might return if LS would just add some light rail tracks just below the Corkscrew. And maybe some jersey barriers and chainlink.

There's already plenty of those two things... LS put it up because Champ Car wanted it. Then Champ Car left anyway. :saywhat: :shakehead
