Somehow in the process of merging the two threads I zapped both Livery threads. My bad. Please post again Andrew. :(

My contribution, the Rocketsports car looks better than last year.

Oh sure. What you don't realize is that I screwed up three times posting the first post. I'm a little challenged today.

Strike two...

With all the grumbling about the news out of LS at least there are some new liveries to look at.

Dalziel is cool:

Tracy seems to have two liveries, both different from what he had at Sebring
I like them both, but I also liked what he had before

And SB has his tweaked, though IMO it still needs some white and the "M" is not working where it is. Seems that could be a cool big graphic element.

Team Oz still look great. And l like the Rocketsport, even if it is not very daring.

I dig Tracy's new one. Reminds me of BMW in F1. Hey! Maybe BMW is coming to Champ Car!

Same helmet, same driver, two cars.

And different from Sebring

I think he meant Martinez (or whoever ultimately may get the 2nd Forsythe ride) may have a sponsor requiring a different livery from Tracy.

At the fan Forum at Laguna KK did his best at damage control with some fairly tough questions and when asked about car count his answer included mention that stories about FCR running only one car were NOT true. Also, pics were up at AR1 showing David Martinez in a Team Gerry driver's suit doing pr filming in one of the cars at the Sebring test. (trying to sell sponsorship back home?) Also read where Ranger has cash but Bruno was a whopping 2.2 secs. faster in the same DCR car. Who gets it?

Right. That was the first thing I checked, 2. Plus the location doesn't appear to indicate a tie-in with a team or CCWS. :)

Seems more like a B2B sponsorship (like Visteon) than an average consumer one, but it's a sponsorship.

Red and White is what we all hope not to see an abundance of.

That may be, but I can't recall Ranger being anywhere near 2.2 seconds off the pace where it counted. I thought he qualified pretty well, considering his team. Anyone care to refresh my memory? Personally, I think he's fast enough and would be a great teammate to Paul Tracy. Team Canada, eh?!

Where it counted? Was only referring to the recent test. Only pointing out the old speed vs. money issue. (and no, I don't believe Ranger is as fast or as good as Bruno)

Abundance of red and white!? What ELSE can you cry about! Are the endplates too big? Can you read the numbers? The girlie bumps disturb you? I guess the mirrors must be OK? Nose too high? Too heavy? I think it was finally determined it ain't TOO SLOW!:) Give me 18 red and white cars right NOW!

Fewer red cars seems certain with the KV cars switching. Can't say that I'm a fan of the Red Bull livery, though.

Where it counted? You don't think test numbers matter when you're looking for a ride?

I wasn't complaining. Just saying red isn't the problem distinguishing cars, it was there were so many red and white one last years. I'd rather have more cars than worry about colors. But given the preference, it would be nice if cars were different colors, that's all.

Of course they matter, but you have no idea what fuel load he's running. Ranger is not a total stranger to the series. He's a known quantity. My point is that Nizmo was making it sound like the 2.2 seconds was something you could bank on. I say no; in fact AJ wasn't exactly lighting up the series before he got fired, and look what he could do when he went to Forsythe.

I have to say it. I have to be honest. I was wrong.

The DP is a MUCH better looking car in full war paint than I'd imagined.

I'd still like to see one with the P-40 shark's mouth, though. Maybe a transponder aerial shaped like a circular gun sight on the nose....

Gotta agree.

I just keep hoping for more warpaint.

The last few years the liveries have been a real hodge-podge. I know the lack of sponsorship has much to do with it, but I think the series has a strong interest in ensuring the cars are presented well even if the sidepods are blank. I had hoped they would use the launch of the DP01 as an opportunity to address this.

Back in the 40s GMs EMD division had a design group go around to railroads and present ways to to paint their E and F unit locomotives. Those engines were/are classic pieces of industrial design and GM knew how they looked reflected on them as well as the railroads.

The same can be said of the DP01 and the series should allow them to just apply some decals and paint without much thought. NASCAR has strict presentation rules about everything right down to where the associate sponsor decals have to be and I believe the designs have to be approved by NASCAR.

The top (whiter) livery is the newer of the two FCR chassis, both of which are for Paul. The other is the the original Sebring car, repainted with the livery first seen at Houston. I would expect it to be repainted again before Vegas.

I just hope to ****en hell that champcar has a good spotters guide that does the cars justice.
That abortion last year was laughable.
I kinda remember someone at champcarfanatics doing a reasonable one midway through the season last year.

I like it. The rear wing endplate also looks smaller on that car. Seriously when is this season going to start?

Also good to see the series hasn't lost Indeck sponsorship. :gomer:
(I like the newest more white the best)
