Vegas Grand Prix track construction set up to take place Thursday, March 1

Track construction for the first annual Vegas Grand Prix will begin on Thursday, March 1, 2007, at 7 p.m. on Grand Central Parkway. The cornerstone track barricade will be placed signifying the start of track construction on the 2.44-mile temporary street circuit.

When: Thursday, March 1, at 7 p.m.

Where: Grand Central Parkway and City Parkway/F Street.

Media parking is available south of City Parkway.

Visual: Placement of cornerstone track barricade – more than 2,700 12-foot long, 39-inch cement barriers will line the perimeter inside and outside the course. The barriers weigh about 9,000 pounds apiece and will all be connected.

All work will be done between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. to avoid peak drive times.
