From today's E-News

The Queen Mary 2, along with the Queen Elizabeth 2, are visiting Sydney. The Queen Mary 2 arrived at dawn and the Sydney Morning Herald has some spectacular pictures on its web site www.smh.com.au The QM2 is too large to go under the Sydney Harbour Bridge so it is docked at the Garden Island Navy Base. The harbour was filed with hundreds of small boats to welcome the QM 2 as well as thousands of people who came to take part in the welcoming. It was a sight not seen in Sydney since the two ships' predecessors, the Queen Mary and the Queen Elizabeth greeted each other in the harbour as troop carriers in 1941.

In all seriousness... I wouldn't mind back in my home town to see that...

Unfortunately, I'm on holiday...

It will probably happen again, although probably not for a year or more. By then, it won't be the "first time since....." and you might not have to deal with big crowds. Cunard has discovered that having the two Queens in the place creates quite a media frenzy. Probably more advertising than they pay for in a year.
