Nowak -- who was a mission specialist on a Discovery launch last summer -- was wearing a trench coat and wig and had a knife, BB pistol, and latex gloves in her car, reports show. They also found diapers, which Nowak said she used so she wouldn't have to stop on the 1,000-mile drive. Reports show that after U.S. Air Force Capt. Colleen Shipman's flight arrived, Nowak followed her to the airport's Blue Lot for long-term parking, tried to get into Shipman's car and then doused her with pepper spray.

Looks like a meth addict.

I guess that's how you look when you drive 900 miles non stop wearing a diaper and you realize you just screwed up your life.

I still can't figure out what she planned to accomplish. For all her careful planning how was this ever going to get her man?

What vehicle goes 900 miles non-stop?

A prediction: She will shortly be entering some sort of rehab.

dunno.

Article in my paper said she paid cash the whole way and didn't get out of the car to cover her trail and minimize her time away from Houston that needed an alibi.

Thought that part through anyway. Must be her training.:shakehead

Rehab or some other mental treatment is in her future. Any good defense lawyer would suggest it.

I read somewhere this morning that her nickname was Robo-Chick. She was the remote arm operator on the mission she flew. Guess NASA still hasn't figured out that hiring over-achievers with advanced degrees to do a job that Vern over at Bud's Crane Service could do isn't a winning strategy. :gomer:

Anyway, Hunter Thompson was once again proved correct when he said, "when the going gets weird, the weird turn pro."

So first she gets a $15K bond, which pizzes off the cops, so they charge her with attempted murder on top of kidnapping, and she gets just another $10K added on to the $15K. WTF is up with that shizzle? :saywhat:

I LOVE news days like this!!!

http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/space/02/23/astronaut.plan.ap/index.html

It turns out NASA has detailed, written procedures for dealing with a suicidal or psychotic astronaut in space. The documents, obtained this week by The Associated Press, say the astronaut's crewmates should bind his wrists and ankles with duct tape, tie him down with a bungee cord and inject him with tranquilizers if necessary.

Did they call that the Nowak protocol?

There has been very little in the Houston paper and nothing new. NASA is circling the wagons and hoping it all goes away. I suspect we won't hear much of anything until it gets to court in Florida. Assuming the case actually see's the inside of a courtroom. I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a plea bargain and the whole thing goes away quietly.

I do expect we will hear that Oefelein has retired sometime later this year.

I think that isn't quite the link you were intending.

Next up for Nowak will probably be getting kicked out of the Air Force for adultry. In a story earlier this week Oefelein had told the Florida police that he had been having an affair with Nowak. Can't Oefelein get kicked out for adultry as well?

More detail on Nowak and Oefelein here. (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/4611613.html)

Oefelein, who told Florida authorities he and Nowak shared an intimate relationship of several years while each was married, could face disciplinary action by the Navy.

NASA: Oefelein Being Sent Back To Navy
(http://www.local6.com/news/13391838/detail.html)

Shuttle pilot William Oefelein, the astronaut who was involved in the Lisa Nowak love triangle, is being shipped back to the U.S. Navy, NASA officials told Local 6 News partner Florida Today.

Oefelein was told that his detail to NASA will end on June 1.

"The Navy and NASA have mutually agreed to end his detail to NASA," said Kylie Clem, a spokeswoman at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston.
