I'll be dragging my father and brother down to Long Beach this year. Where's the best seats? Any other race weekend advice?

I like any of the grandstands located at turn 1 (Grandstands 40, 36, 5, 6). If you are staying north of Long Beach (Downtown, Hollywood) you can take the Blue line train, it drops you off at the circuit entrance.

Remember that Gs 40 and 6 are 3 day reserved seats. I was in Gs 36 for the first time last year and it didn't suck, but I wish they hadn't *****canned Gs 19 for a hospitality area in front of the GA (nee ALMS) paddock.
I worked turn 9 as a photog a couple of times (and sat in that grandstand any time I could get a seat) and still consider it one of the best locations around the track.

Some unique views are available from Gs 24 (hairpin), 25, and either 30 or 31 (close to s/f along Shoreline) and with those seats you get good diamondvision viewing locations. I'm not sure where I'll be during the race this year, but I know I'll be on the grounds.

On another note, I scored a great opportunity at a "crash pad" for a few nights during LBGP weekend today:

A friend of mine bought a 27' sloop moored in San Pedro and told me if I want to crash out on the boat he will give me the keys... I may just take him up on the offer! :D

Sometimes it SUCKS to be me!!!:p

In the area near turn 1, GS 5 & 7 are "3-day" tickets, GS 6 is called a Sunday-only stand. I've had raceday seats in GS 6 for a few years now and I can see both turns 1 and 6.

You should check out the Long Beach Hooters if you can make it this year ;)
