Clearly you were never a Girl Scout. ;) This was our version of pigs in a blanket. Staple of any good camp out. I see now that Pillsbury is trying to make the bready bit important but we only used whatever was at hand to keep the bacon grease from burning our fingers. The important part was the meat.

Oh, and we specifically had to have the bacon to make the fire go whooooooooosh! Really got the counselors on edge. heheheheh.

Our local arena announced that they are adding a BBBLT sandwich to the menu for this season's sports events & concerts. The sandwich will have bacon, pancetta, Canadian bacon, romaine lettuce and a tomato aioli on a French loaf.

It sounds yummy, if you don't mind that triple dose of cholesterol.

Pretty tough to drink straight, IMO, but it makes the best damned Bloody Mary ever. Substitute a sprig of lettuce for the celery and pour it up, you have a BLTini. :gomer:

Look into the whole "uncured" labeling. Things aren't always what they seem.

I bought it, not because it is has less sodium nitrates (or different forms of) or purported healthy eating, but because they were out of the regular bacon. Uncured gets you a different batch of chemicals and a chance for botulism.

I've tried to slip in the regular bacon, but they know the difference. They prefer the taste of the uncured bacon.

Unless I rip out the kids' playset and building a pen for pigs, my bacon is going to have a few issues.

Burger King Bacon Sundae

The world's second biggest hamburger chain on Thursday is launching several pork, beef and chicken sandwiches as limited time offers. And for a sweet ending, the company is also offering a bacon sundae — vanilla soft serve with fudge, caramel, bacon crumbles and a piece of bacon — that started in Nashville, Tenn. earlier this year.

I've done the majority of our grocery shopping the past 20 years, and food prices have increased @ least 50% the past 5 years or so. Unless you buy on the few deals available, or use a loyalty card, costs are even worse. Milk has been one of the few items that hasn't increased as much over that time. It's a loss leader until now. :irked:
