TSN reports Budweiser replacing Marlboro. (http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/news_story.asp?ID=38845) I guess with tobacco sponsorship being banned in 2006 they need to find another sponsor. But Bud? C'mon that ain't even a real beer.

Well, they have to find a big money sponsor with worldwide product distribution and a red color scheme. That leaves Bud, Coke or McDonalds. Guess, I'd prefer to see the Coca Cola Ferrari, among those choices, but Bud is better than McDonalds. Can you see the Michael Schumacher happy meal?

Well some of the chicken McNuggets do have pointy bits on them...quite a good product tie-in when you think about it..:D

The real Budweiser is an excellent Chech pilsner.

It's the American stuff that is clydesdale piss. Sort of the IRL of beers.

Some of my German relatives once had to wait at the airport a bit for me to pick them up and ordered Budweisers at the bar on the course: it took a couple of cases of good stuff at my place to get the taste out of their mouths that evening. :)

Budweiser may not be much of a beer to the countries that invented the stuff (or damn near anywhere but here in the states), but here in the US you're not gonna find a better mass-produced beer. Sure, 95% of the micro-brews put Bud to shame, but for God's sake... at $15/case you can't beat it! It's made me fall down more times than I care to recall. Calling it out as "the IRL of beers" is a bit much, when much more worthy candidates come to mind... Old Milwaukee, Busch, Miller products in general, Rolling Rock, etc.

Bud may be low on the totem pole, but "the IRL of beers"??? C'mon, Pete!

Besides, if I had to pack a weekend's worth of good beer for a race, I'd hafta watch the race at home on TV for lack of traveling and ticket money!

I would suggest something like Coors Light or Gennesse Light as the irl of beers.

Hey! I drink Bud, and I like it.

It's Budweiser for me when I want to drink beer, but any of a dozen others when I want to drink BEER, though.

I used to work at the brewery that makes Bud here in CBus(no I didn't work for A-B,but an outside contracter)and to be honest it was amazing how much goes into the making of beer, granted I got to see the whole brewery and not just the peak through the window you get on the tour. But if we're using racing terminology to rate beers, wouldn't Bud be the NASCAR of beers in this country??
