^^^ been doing that annual top 10 thread for some years, plenty of other album suggestions on there, some of the lists were posted in white text so you'll need to highlight those

From looking at all of those lists I've only heard of about 10 of those artists. I know I listen to more mainstream music, but are most of these people inde-artists?

I must be living under a rock. Never heard of them.

maybe the monkies, good old school rock and roll.

Anyone heard of Mago de Oz?

it is a Spanish rock band from Barcelona.

If we're going to count the top albums you discovered in 2006, then I submit

- The Fray: How to Save a Life
- All American Rejects: Move Along
- Various Artists: Greys Anatomy Soundtrack v. 1 & 2
- Great Big Sea: Rant and Roar

Pretty much with the exception of GBS, they're all pretty mainstream.

I'd have to add KT Tunstall as well. :)

i realize that about half of you guys listen to FM radio still, and don;t net radio or XM/Sirius, so that's why you never hear anything new. But believe this old fart that there is a TON of great new stuff out there. start with woxy.com and maybe go from there, etc....

me list:

#1 this year goes to:

phoenix: never been like that. WAY cool, and why they aren;t onada biggest bands in the world right now amazes me.

james dean bradfield - western songs (ex-manic street preachers)
the changes - today is tonight
Judah Johnson - Be Where I Be
The Kooks - Inside in / inside out (really dig this one)
Snowden - Anti Anti
TV On The Radio - Return To Cookie Mountain
Sparklehorse - Dreamt For Light Years In The Belly Of A Mountain
Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin - Broom

you only get nine.

I haven't bought a CD since high school and I prefer stealing my MP3s, I let XM find me my music now.

Sirius is free in DishNetwork.
It`s the only reason I don`t bother to buy one for the car ....but I would have to if I ever dumped the satallite..FM blows.
I find lotsa new stuff on last.fm

One of the better albums I bought this year was Dial S for Sonny Clark.

It was new to me.
