Well, this is Phil Knight's world after all.:irked: So, with that said, let's name/discuss/post the worst uniforms in sports (college, pro, or even other). I'm too computer-dumb to post a picture myself, but I'll nominate the absolutely vomitous Washington Wizards "3rd uniform", a gold (kinda, but not really) and black abomination.:yuck: :yuck:

Feel free to contribute.

Phil Knight is a major league douchebag of Tony George proportions, Nike is run like a cult and the product is the stuff bad dreams are made of. Ank's post of the Oregon uniforms pretty much says it all.

Which sabres jersey? Cause the classic Blue/yellow is amazing.

Also, I love the ugly jersey's from hockey in the 60's, 70's and 80's. They are pure and awesome.

I don't like the commercialized nike crap going on now in ncaa foosball.

Personally I even enjoy the Pred's grey poupon jersey, but I understand why most do not.

Right up my alley. I judge teams on their uniforms first, everything else second. :)

Oregon Ducks are worst in college fb... maybe ever. However, worst use of undergarments goes to Swooshville, for introducing the mismatched sleeves:

http://www.bevosports.com/images/vick_fugly.jpg

In the NFL, the Seahawks monochrome home unis are awful, and the stripe of tennis-ball grellow doesn't help a bit. Looks like shiny bird poop:

http://starbulletin.com/2006/02/08/sports/art1a.jpg

However, giving the Seabags a run for their money are the teams who sport the all-black "leotard look" (let's get physical, physical!):

http://cmsimg.indystar.com/apps/pbcsi.dll/bilde?NewTbl=1&Avis=BG&Dato=20061210&Kategori=SPORTS03&Lopenr=612100803&Ref=PH&Item=4&MaxW=500&MaxH=400&Q=60
(by the way, I'm sure he ran for about 12 more yards after this hit)

Personally, I think the Wizards new third uniform is very good, and would only be made better if it weren't so shiny. Do something different, step out. Almost every other sport on the earth has different colored shirts and shorts, but for some reason it's off limits in basketball... that's a dumb limitation we're putting on the sport.

Sorry not a better view, but these TBDRays "motor oil on pavement" unis were hideous:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/features/2000/sipreview/devilrays/devilrays_sm.jpg

But not as bad as the all-red uniforms the Cleveland Indians wore in the 50s... sorry, no picture. Actually, I'm not sorry.

And despite what this picture shows, these uniforms were not really "orange".. more of a light tangerine color, and might have been the longest-running bad uniform in pro sports:

I think the current Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals uniforms look terrible. The Bills use about three colors and eight stripes too many, and the Bengals look like clowns. The previous-generation Bengals uniforms looked so much better.

And I've always hated the classic/current New York Jets unis based on the color alone.

TKGAngel

Buffalo Sabres too

While the new Sluggalo uniforms may be an acquired taste, the fact that 5 of the top 10 selling jerseys in the NHL are of Buffalo players (Miller, Briere, Drury, Pominville and Afinogenov) shows that the Slug is catching on.

I agree with you when it comes to the white Bills jerseys, but the blue ones aren't that bad.

The Bills jerseys may very well be the worst in the NFL.

I don't mind the Sabres jerseys, other than the slug. The colors and design are fine, but everytime I see the logo I think to myself "You know, they paid a graphic design/marketing firm a lot of money and that's the best they could come up with?"

I understand it sells well, but I just think they could have done better without even trying.

true, but they're throwbacks, no? I do like how NYG & the jets returned to their old school helmets & unis back in the 90's. the cowboys alternates are atrocious though, imo

Ank - yes, those are the Bills 'throwback' uniforms.

WB - you're right, I like those much better than their regular ones. So much so that I wish the Bills would use those for their regular uniforms, and use the ones from the Super Bowl years as the alternate/throwback.

WickerBill
12-16-06, 09:13 AM
There was some rumor last year that the players liked the Bills throwback/alt uni so much (and the fans too, I assume) that the Bills A. petitioned to use it more than twice and were denied, and B. petitioned for a permanent uniform change (must give 2 years notice, so I guess we'll find out in 2007).

You can't get the full heinous effect of this jersey from this shot:

I did not know that. I guess that can go on the list of things that Ralph Wilson is pissed at the NFL PTB for.

I did hear that the Sabres petitioned to use the old blue/gold home jerseys as their alternate 3rd jersey, but the league put the kibosh on that, since throwbacks are worn at home and home jerseys must be dark.

And those Raptor jerseys are horrible.

The trouble that the Bills and a lot of other NFL teams have is that at some point they decided that nobody wanted to buy brightly colored merchandise. So a lot of teams darkened their colors and we lost good colors in favor of a lot of a lot of navy blue. The Chargers original blue was biggest loss, I think.

The alternate color uniforms are helping to bring some of those back. I imagine you'll see some teams switching to those colors and using the alternates as a way to keep a darker scheme that they can sell to fans who aren't comfortable wearing powder blue.

Ankf00

I also don't like the new age stripes on the helmets of the ravens, titans, panthers, etc.

The Ducks uni's can be hard to look at, but I think Phil Knight and the University of Oregon have a motive here, that is working.

Get yourself a uniform, thats gets you on Sportscenter in the first 5 minutes, EVERY week during the football season, and a much talked about subject on all the other networks.

End result?

It will help recruiting in the long run, just because potential players keep hearing the name, and seeing the program on the news.

It makes perfect sense
