A man with style and grace and a driver with five GP wins to his credit. Someone you just had to root for on race weekends.

What a shame...a truly nice, likable guy...the last of an era, F-1 was already showing signs of becoming the monster it is today, and Regga's style simply wouldn't fit in anymore...

Rest in peace.

Yes. So was leaving a disabled race car in an escape road at Long Beach. I wonder if his fate may have been even worse had he continued on at that speed? Did they even use tires in the runoff then? I can't recall.

His win at Monza produced on of the all-time greatest photos in the history of motorsport. RIP, Clay.

Truly sad news. Clay was one of the best.

I was walking around the runoff area when Clay lost his brake pedal at Long Beach. Eeriest sound I've ever heard at a race track, you just knew something was wrong even before the impact. I can still hear it today.

It was an inspiration when he started racing with hand controls. In a way it restored some of my faith in motorsports as a way to foster innovation and reinforced my belief that the racers spirit can serve as a role model for all.
