Officials from Vegas Grand Prix and First Data Independent Sales® Fresno by Cardservice International, a processor for Visa credit cards, announced Monday that the event planned for April 6-8 in downtown Las Vegas will now be called Vegas Grand Prix Fueled by Visa as part of a multi-year, multi-city partnership between the two entities.

multi-city partnership

So, I assume that means Phoenix gets a title sponsor too.

That is my assumption as well.

Hey, I'm on board. All my travel arrangements and reservations are being handled by the VISA in my wallet.

This is of course bad news. I haven't figured out why yet, but I know its bad. :gomer:

Well, it ain't ABC Windows and Doors, but it'll have to do until CC can bring a major sponsor on board.:D

"...higher than anticipated pre-sale tickets... additional grandstands have been added." MORE doom and gloom.

I guess Figge and Dalziel were at Casino Center at 4th and Ogden "lighting things up" at the announcement. Pics anywhere?

Not to worry. The eskimo is on the case. He'll have something dug up in no time. :D

And Steve Johnson said 4 new venues announced and more to come. Also said 20-24 cars, deals being made right now and talking to Stoddert in Indy this week.:)

“We are beyond pleased with First Data Independent Sales® Fresno by Cardservice International and their partner Visa becoming such an integral member of the team for the Vegas Grand Prix,” said Yonover,

And we thought BPCCWSPBF was a mouthful. Yonover is really working for the sponsor.:)

"...fueled by Visa" Much better

Its not really Visa and not even really CSI, just their branch office. And no money is really trading hands, just getting on site telecom for free.

Just like LB isn't really sponsored by Toyota but Toyota dealers and Cup isn't really sponsored by Dodge but Dodge dealers:D

"This is a significant deal," said Jim Freudenberg, president and CEO of the race that's co-owned by Brad Yonover and Dale Jensen of DDB Ventures. "I wish I could tell you exactly how much it is because it's so much better than what Phoenix International Raceway gets for its NASCAR race.

"But it's substantial and we've secured some longtime viability for the Vegas Grand Prix Fueled by Visa."

Somehow I think that you'll get a special LVGP/VISA "go pass" to use during the event weekend. Whether you'll be able to swipe the tips for the pole dancers, Chippendale guys and take care of the occasional hooker remains to be seen. Probably will happen, it's all about the B2B, ya know... :p

I'm sure he's scouring their financial statements looking for some angle. What a moron.

While I wasn't at all excited about a street race in Phoenix (having been at the F1 fiasco) and only marginally more excited about one in LV, I can't fault CCWS for working with a serious promoter that has serious sponsorship to bring. High level sponsors is a "who you know" situation, and this promoter is in a position to know the right people.

They have also brought in someone with experience to do operations, which is very wise if you want to avoid the kind of close-order-group-fornication we saw in San Jose.

Whether you'll be able to swipe the tips for the pole dancers,

Now THAT'S a visual!

Here's a question:

How long had Visa sponsored a car? I remember Blundell's PacWest car, were there any before that? Didn't Sullivan also have Visa on the pods?

I've always been convinced that the only reason we have never gotten to that promised cashless society is because of the stripper industry... :\
