Apparently at the CC banquet a letter from Christiano was read and his reaction time is nearly back and he expects to be 100% by the Vegas race.

Fantastic news about his health. Also good to have him back, but I haven't heard of a seat for him amongst the silly season stuff.

Truly one of the highlights of the evening. Several were hoping he would come but someone read a preonalized letter he wrote to the series, teams, fans and everyone else important to him. A great time had by all at the banquet. Thumbs up to Vicki O'Connor and her crew for their hard work for another succesful banquet. The evening seemed to zip by because there were no long-winded speeches. Sebastian won a new Ford SUV, beautiful car... will come in handy for Sebass, Claire and their new baby! We are associated with some of the greatest people in motorsports in this series. It was nice to meet them when their heads aren't stuck in a car or laptop. They're much more accessible there.

Cheers to another great champcar season in the books and many many more to come.

Can't wait to see shorty at the track again next year!! Keep up the good work Kiki!

Thanks for sharing the great news! :)

I just went to my snail-mailbox, and there was an envelope from Brazil. I opened it up, and found a beautiful card with a drawing of da Matta on the front. Inside it says "May the happiness you shared return to you in the same special way you offered it. Thank you!! Cristiano da Matta and family".

And Cristiano signed it himself. How incredible that he sent this card!!!! When my husband and I say grace on Thanksgiving, Cristiano's miraculous recovery will be pretty close to the top of the "Things For Which We're Thankful in 2006" list.

Here's the latest from Cristiano's website:

I always like to read the original site through Altavista Babelfish, even if it does come up with some funny translations.

Anyway, very positive news!

"I made a promise not to think about racing again before I'm 100 percent recovered," he said. "I'm not being able to completely keep this promise, of course, but I try to stay away from the subject."

11.29 10:54am | Cristiano da Matta - Ninety-nine percent

Hello everyone. I have a little story to tell.

My brother Gustavo, who helped me a lot these last couple of months updating these web site, with all the news about my recovery, is back at work. So now I'm in charge.

I would like to thank God, and all of you for the praying and the support given to me through these difficult time. The result of all of you thinking the same way about these is that I’m almost completely recovered, living a normal life and phocused on my health.

Due to the physical therapy, I can already move my arm whatever way I want, and I know I just need to work a tiny little bit on my strength. All my doctors and physical therapists are impressed with how fast I’ve been getting better. I’m very happy to be able to do almost all the stuff I would do normally through any given day, as playing guitar, running, spinning in my stationary bike, and really enjoy all this time I’ve been spending with my family, friends and my girlfriend.

As soon as I have more news, I’ll let you know right away. Thank you one more time!

GO DA MATTA!!!! :D

The latest update (3/8) from da Matta's website:
Hi everyone, how are you doing?

I'm doing great, still going through the long recovery process. I've been doing physical therapy every day and now I can say that I'm doing everything pretty normal.

I can't be back to the race car right now cause I can't afford to have another injury, so I might wait a little longer, but I'm fine with that and waiting for the right time.

In the meantime, I'm training on my mountain bike here, it helps me to develop motor skills, balance, resistance and every single thing that an athlete needs. My brothers and buddies are directly involved with this sport so I have the chance to train with top level bike racers.

Once again I would like to say that the support of fans and friends are being very important, that keeps me up, so I can push up to get back to my very best. I've been in contact with all race community, lately close friends such as Christian Fittilpaldi and Oriol Servia came over and spent some days with me, we had a lot of fun.

I'd like to share some personal pictures with my family, friends and bike ride.

Warmest regards.
