Hornish to jump into Busch on part-time basis
'06 Indy 500 champ to run final two races for Penske in No. 39

HAMPTON, Ga. -- Unlike Juan Pablo Montoya and A.J. Allmendinger, open-wheel star Sam Hornish Jr. isn't making a full-time jump into NASCAR, but Penske Racing has laid the groundwork for a possible move in the future.

The freshly scrubbed NASCRAP Sham tells the press what we've all known for years.

I think the Busch Series would be a step up for him.

I believe there was another earl driver about 7 years ago that only raced Busch races that didn't interfere with his IRl schedule, what was his name?

they'd need a shoehorn to get him in an EARL car these days.

Ladder series path:

IRL -> ChampCar -> F1 -> Grand Am -> NASCAR -> NASA-X

Actually this move makes perfect sense and I think he stands a better than average chance of success, being a confirmed and successful oval centrist.The bothersome part is the gomer press and fans who believe it's the racing and the challenge drawing in these "new" drivers, never mentioning the power of that $$-sucking vacuum cleaner.

I actually like the paint scheme on that car. Too bad it's not on a ChampCar.

As the I*L goes to more road-street courses, the chances of Sam going NASCAR get better and better.

It was kind of fun to flip channels away from the OSU game [ :saywhat: ] and watch Sham slipping and sliding around the Phoenix oval. On the other hand, the performance of NASCAR's drivers on a flat oval over the weekend convinced me that the facility will be improved with 18 degree banking and a D oval shape to allow them to more ablely demonstrate their marketing skills between even bigger crashes.
