Tesco has been forced to remove a pole-dancing kit from the toys and games section of its website after it was accused of "destroying children's innocence".
The Tesco Direct site advertises the kit with the words, "Unleash the sex kitten inside...simply extend the Peekaboo pole inside the tube, slip on the sexy tunes and away you go!
"Soon you'll be flaunting it to the world and earning a fortune in Peekaboo Dance Dollars".
The £49.97 kit comprises a chrome pole extendible to 8ft 6ins, a 'sexy dance garter' and a DVD demonstrating suggestive dance moves.

A spokesman added: "Pole dancing is an increasing exercise craze. This item is for people who want to improve their fitness and have fun at the same time."

The greatest crime he is the price though. That's more than $90 US for a pole, DVD, garter and peekaboo bucks.
They are also selling a strip poker kit. I thought all you needed were cards and clothes (temporarily)?

I have a 16 year old daughter who is a great kid. First chair violin in the orchestra, equestrian show jumper, 3.8 GPA...and yet I found her myspace page a few weeks ago with the nick 'Candy Lips' and friends comments about 'partying' and sexual innuendos that made me furious.

here's some points against the "daily maul",
The toy was onsale on tesco's website. How many 5 year olds have a credit card to buy this toy?
I don't think that any kid's life would be ruined by seeing a pole-dance kit on a website.
I think this "sexualisation of kids" stuff actually reflects just how desperate and maladjuted adults are. remember the kids want to act like grown-ups right?
