Chris is the fueler, they reported that he walked to the medical center afterwards and checked out OK. Scary as hell.

I never did hear a clear answer on whether AJ left too soon or was signaled out and the fueler got hung up.

Announcer said he was waved before the hose got out. I thought the replay supported that.

Guess some lovely soul will put it on YouTube, then we'll know for sure.

In the very brief post-race interview I heard with AJ he said maybe it was his fault but he thought he was waived. The tone of his voice showed real concern. From reading here, it seems he *was* waved out. Nevertheless, he was willing to accept blame if it was his fault. Very mature. I can't believe it but I am admiring him completely for that.

On the coverage, it's clear he was waved out. Huge mistake by that guy.

Interesting too to hear AJ say the heat/water cooked his electronic and messup the no lift shift. That directly led to his shunt. (and he lost so much momentum lifting that he couldn't get to 7th gear)

Never would have thought of that.

Check out the photo on page 3 Sunday race photos bottom row left at CC site. Talk about synchronicity! The instant PT crosses the line and makes contact with Power, the hose is coming apart in AJ's pit and fuel is beginning to fly. The crew is already ducking for cover, knowing what is about to happen. Two big incidents, one pic! I'm such a technofeeb, can someone post that here?? Please? Pretty impressive.
