This is the Off Camber NFL Eliminator Pool thread for Week 7.

Rules:

Pick the winner of one game this week.
If you are right, you move on to the next week.
If you are wrong, you are eliminated.
You can only use a team once the entire season (e.g. You choose the Falcons for Week 1, that means you can not choose the Falcons again another week.)
The winner is the last man or woman standing.

How to enter:

Submit your entry by posting in this thread.
If you use a picture for your pick, please also type the name.
Your pick must be in before the start time for the first game of the week. (1:00 PM ET, Sun 10/22 for Week 7)
Any edits to your post after this time will result in disqualification.
If you make multiple picks in the same week, your last pick before the deadline will be used.

since im so bad at this, from now on im just gonna use my picks as jinxes against teams i hate.

i think next year for more of a challenge, we should be allowed to use teams more than once, but we should have to play by point spread, not just wins and losses.

I was thinking of variations if there is a winner say around Week 10 and we started over, it will get kind of easy. Things I thought of:

Only pick teams from one conference.
Only pick the winner of division matchup games.
Only pick a team with a losing record.
Only pick a road team.

BTW--I thought you were a Steelers fan for some reason.

Those are some good ideas to make things tougher. But who knows, theres 13 people still undefeated and we have 11 weeks left. This may still be over by week 12 or 13.

I think the rules are fine. The only thing I would change is the "Eliminated" part. Play all year, the winner(s) have the fewest losses after week 17. No way I would play if point spreads were involved.

Tiebreaker or double points: carry on through the playoffs.

Still thinking about my pick...

I'm loving this Indy-NE feud:

The New England Patriots have formally asked the NFL to ensure the safety of Patriots employees when the team hosts the Indianapolis Colts and their explosive president at Gillette Stadium on Sunday night, Nov. 5.

The move, an evident tweaking of the Colts, comes after Colts President Bill Polian apologized to a Jets employee earlier this month for shoving him before the Colts-Jets game at Giants Stadium on Oct. 1.

http://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/206519/detail.html

Last March, the Indianapolis Colts outbid the Patriots for kicker Adam Vinatieri, a New England icon who’s a pretty good bet to wind up in the Hall of Fame.

A few days after the signing, Colts president Bill Polian did a 20-minute phone interview with WEEI radio, a Boston sorts-talk radio station. Polian spent the time talking about how the Vinatieri signing went down and what a great deal it was for the Colts.

This verbal victory lap galled Patriots officials.

“Do we go on Indianapolis radio every time we beat them in the playoffs?” mused a Patriots source.

http://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/210395/detail.html

They should refuse to let Polian into the Stadium. :)

If injured, Leftwich would be the latest in a growing list for the Jags (3-2). The team already is without linebacker Mike Peterson, defensive end Reggie Hayward and running back Greg Jones for the season.

Also Friday, defensive tackle Marcus Stroud (ankle), receiver Matt Jones (hamstring) and backup offensive lineman Stockar McDougle (ankle) were ruled out against the Texans.

Defensive end Marcellus Wiley (groin) and cornerback Terry Cousin (groin) joined Leftwich as questionable.

Hmmm...

I basically knew this was going to happen but didn't have the cajones to change my pick to Houston. Give Kubiak another two years and nobody will want to play Houston. Imagine if Casserly had left a month sooner and they had taken Bush.

By the way, thanks, Willie Parker, from my fantasy team... ATL gives up about 300 yards to Tiki last week, but Willie looks like a little girl against them.

Not necessarily talking about this season. If Domanick Davis comes back and stays healthy, he is an ideal Kubiak back... but so is Reggie.

Anyone else notice my Broncos can't score now that Kube is gone? Not coincidence. Plummer right now: 19-40, 2 picks, 1 lost fumble.

Ankf00
10-22-06, 07:13 PM
To me, Reggie's not a good Kubiak back. Not with the way he's played the past 3 years anyway. He's always shied away from running between the tackles, instead choosing to string the play out to the sidelines and outrun the LBs to the corner.

Saban's rb's at LSU, like Dom Davis & Addai, more scatback than I-back, but always had the toughness to keep it between the tackles when called.

Desmond Howard had the odd pretty punt return TD highlight too...

also, texans probably draft a rb next year, preseason his knee was knocked in practice, bruised only, no ligs damaged. docs say that it never will feel like it used to, too much wear & tear in his knee, but he refuses to play until it feels like it used to, ergo, he's never playing again.

Insomniac

Kubiak back is going to be a one cut and go guy. Zone blocking. Not that Reggie couldn't adjust, but why draft him if he's not a fit.

either the package to fit your personnel (what Atl's trying), or pick the personnel for the package (Indy), and Kubiak's not changing his package *obligatory crotch grab*

plus if Dominick Davis had stayed healthy, his production would've been just fine, the 60M would be better spent elsewhere, but instead the Texans draft a lazy ass DE who can't hold a candle to Julius Peppers and takes plays off at least 1/2 the time  f'ing geniuses...

I mean, that's what we boiled everything down to with the Vick still passing at 50% & Big Ben sucked in the Superbowl argument a couple months back, right, W's?

and again, no one's said Vince was going to light anything up as a rook, but feel free to come up with yet another line of worthless smack, as usual it'll blow up in your face in a week or 2

So Vince Young gets credit for putting up 13 points against the Colts and losing by 1, but you don't give Leinart any credit for putting up 23 points against the Bears and losing by 1?
