Yes, Katherine had all the things it took to get through that one. Drivers have come to their end in much less dramatic crashes than that.

BTW, I scanned to race control channel the moment DD saw the incident on his monitor and started yelling on the TV broadcast. At that moment, Mr. Hake was calling in to control, and he was very shaken at what he was seeing, but accurate in his report of the extent of the disaster. JS asked for calm and asked for identifing information regarding the car involved.
Mr. Hake resonded that he could not tell, for all the destruction.
A few seconds passed, and then a female voice came on the channel and stated/reported with a steady voice, 'it is car 20, the pink car'.

I don't know who that worker was, but certainly she deserves recognition for her assistance in communicating well in that difficult moment.
