Jacques Villeneve has reportedly signed a deal to race in NASCAR in 2007.

According to the Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport, the former F1 champion has inked a deal to race with Roush Racing. The report also indicated that Villeneuve would move back to Canada from his current home base of Europe.

Thanks, Tony.

Nothing has been signed for Jacques Villeneuve to race in NASCAR next year, according to his Public Relations Manager.

Rumours have circulated this week that the 1997 Formula One world champion had signed a deal to drive for established outfit Roush Racing, the team that won the Nextel Cup in 2003 and 2004.

But Villeneuve's PR manager Yan Lefort told autosport.com: "I know Jacques is talking to people in America but nothing is signed."

Italian media has also quoted Lefort as saying that the Canadian has various offers in the USA.

Villeneuve has stated on several occasions that he would not consider a return to the American open-wheel racing scene, where he won the Indy 500 on his way to the CART title in 1995.

He has stated though, that he wouldn't view NASCAR as a step down from Formula one, where he has admitted he will never race again.

So now we get to see JV and JPM racing in tin tops?

Whatever. I still am not going to be watching any cab races.

Jacques Villeneuve says that there are no talks between him and Roush Racing, one of the teams that participate in the NASCAR series. The BMW Sauber F1 Team dropped the Canadian after the German GP and replaced him by Robert Kubica and since than there have been rumours that Villeneuve would move to NASCAR. Jacques now says: "I'm retired. They are only rumors."
