First time they've been ranked in 30 years.

Smothering defense and brutal running game.

On national TV tonight against South Florida. Looks like the transformation from laughing stock to credibility may be complete...

...unless they stink it up tonight. They haven't beaten anyone of note and the passing game has been non-existant.

Alum Tony "Gandolfini" Soprano has been coming to games in his Brian Leonard Jersey and Rutgers cap on backwards looking like your typical North Jersey meatball sportsfan.

Even if you are not otherwise interested its worth checking out to see RBs Leonard and Rice. Leonard is a likely legit #1 pick and total throwback player. He is selfless, very fast, very strong. crushing blocker, great receiver and has a vertical leap that allows him to regularly hurdle over tacklers. Rice is very similar but is a better rusher than receiver. He is the #4 rusher in the country and only a sophmore. You'll likely see them both for years to come.

Thanks for noticing. I missed that. :)

Almost blew it but pulled it off. And while the ESPN studio crew was giving up on them at the half R came back with the same calm sense of purpose.

Very smart team. Throwback as a unit. No grandstanding... period. Just smashmouth rushing and defense.

But they still can't complete a pass downfield. And QB Gothe almost beat them all by himself. That's a kid to watch. Pretty good ability. Just showing that he is still a freshman.

Not sure they played well enough to stay in the top 25 but 5-0 is 5-0.

Nice to have as many teams in the Big East in the Top 25 as possible. Unfortunately for WVU, they gets Rutgers last. ;)
