If 'wrench isn't sharing, I will. ;)

Without stealing all of the post -- anyone care to discuss this?

I like the 2.0 I4. The boost can be used as a ratchet the same way it was from 1979-2002.

2.65 dates back to 1969 when they were using destroked Offies and Fords and that was as small as they could make those engines while still using the same blocks. That size outlived its usefulness at least four years ago.

As long as CART has a formula that has nothing to do with what powers the crapwagons, they can run hamsters on treadmills for all I care.

I like the 2.0 I4 turbo, too. They could limit the bore and keep the revs in a reasonable territory while dialing back the boost over the life of the formula.

The 2.2 V8 turbo seems overly complex and probably more expensive when compared to the I4 and would have a shorter useful life as a formula.

The 3.0 NA V10 strikes me a just cheaper copy of the current F1. Bag that and do a 2.4l NA V8 for an Atlantics size car and we're talking, though...

I like the idea of a turbo 4.

That said, if I had to place bets on the interest, it would be on Ford, Honda and the 3.0 V10.

I'm trying to figure out what each manufacture would want.

German (Merc, Audi/VW, Porsche) Audi/VW definitely a turbo 4, my guess would be a N.A. for Merc.

American (Ford) I think they like turbos, but in either way

French (Renault, Citreon, Peogeot) Could the turbo rally engines be turned into champ motors?

Italian (Ferrari, Maseratti) N.A. would be preference

Japaneese (Honda, Subaru, Mitsu, Nissan) My guess is H, S, and M would go for 2.0 turbos, Nissan a NA.

Are there homolagation rules for the rally engines? If so, maybe they could form a basis for a 2.0 l turbo champ engine.

Of the choices listed, I would vote for the turbo I4, although I would prefer a 1.8L as opposed to a 2.0L. I think the 1.8L would have a longer lifespan, as the initial turbo boost could be higher.

I really like the turbo 4.

If I won the lottery I'd brand one "Offenhauser" just to make the lemmings puke.

"Cosworth DFS" would be another good lottery funded name as well.
