Another possible airport venue?

"It is crucial that Champ Car have a race, if not in Quebec, at least close enough to be considered a home race for Quebec drivers like Alex Tagliani and Andrew Ranger"

Ottawa doesn't really cut it as a french race. I've lived there... it's an english city with a smattering of french, mostly in government circles. It's pretty much English on the Ottawa (Ontario) side, French on the Gatineau (Quebec) side, with a big river in between that is more than just a physical divide. And Gatineau is tiny compared to the french population in Montreal.

Montreal OTOH is truly bilingual. I have a soft spot for Ottawa, but it's half the city Montreal is, and it's not a french city.

Rockcliffe is also the home the Canadian National Aviation Museum and Ottawa itself is a pretty good destination for a vacation in my book. Hmmm... by car to Niagra, TO, Coburg, Kingston and then Ottawa. Upper Canada Village and the Finger Lakes region on the way back. Sounds like a road trip!

And does it have to be Ottawa?

First off, can they put together a track at Mirabel airport? I didn't think it was that busy....

Quebec City and Ottawa are both 2 hours away from Montreal.... Hell, put it in Cornwall ;)

They should run Trois-Rivieres.

Racing thrown in with sightseeing and wine-tasting? What a great vacation!

Ottawa? Cool! I was born there, still have lots of family there and know my way around. Jono is right, there are not many French there. :gomer:

How's Ottawa's beach volleyball scene?

Alive and kicking. :) They play at Mooney's Bay, it's this lake-ish thing on the Rideau river, they have nice beaches and nets. At least they did when I was there 8+ years ago.

I like to go to events in other parts of the country and
turn them into vacations.

I have much more likelyhood of visiting Ottawa than Montreal.

There's a lot to do in Ottawa actually, being the capital there's plenty of attractions. Rideau canal, parliament buildings, Supreme Court, the mint, aviation museum, National Art Gallery, Museum of civilization, Byward Market... that's just from the top of my head, I'm sure there's more.
