Absolutely! Are the headlight decals not convincing enough? :gomer:

I still think it looks like an FE crapotype with Camry headlights. A sure sign that Grand Am will soon overtake Nextel Cup in fan appeal.

NASCAR shouldn't waste the time nor money on this pig. It's not like their fans care. They should just put big decals on the winshields of enlarged faces of the drivers. Or better yet, giant heads on the top. Then, whoever is in the lead, they can play canned "'neckism's" over the loud speakers every few laps. ("She's a bit tight in corner 4 but I think we'll wait for the next round o' pits stops", The track's a comin' to us with more rubber bein' laid down. We should be there for the end", and the ever classic "We're three wide in turn 1! Someone's gonna hafta give!). NASCAR done by Disney, I'm surprised they haven't gone to this years ago.

Give Grand-Am cars a little credit. At least they're not trying in the least to look like anything "stock." That thing is atrocious. I think the best part is the splitter :saywhat:

Yes. The splitter is truly a marvel.

'Ugly' Car of Tomorrow to be tested at Michigan

BROOKLYN, Mich. (AP) - NASCAR plans to begin phasing in the bigger, boxier and, hopefully, safer Car of Tomorrow next season and another in a series of tests is scheduled Monday.

Some drivers are excited about the new cars, but Cup rookie Reed Sorenson, who drives for Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates, is not among them.

"I think they're the ugliest car I've ever seen," Sorenson said. "I don't even want to get in it. I'll wait until they make us next year."

Sorenson, third in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year standings, participated in a Car of Tomorrow session earlier this season at Bristol.

One thing he didn't care for was the wood splitters - which redirect airflow - being tested by NASCAR on the front of the new cars.

"The last time I drove it I got into the wall a little bit at Bristol and broke the piece of wood in the front," he said. "We had to go to Home Depot and get some more wood and fix her up.

"(Kevin) Harvick said at Martinsville that the whole inside of his car smelled like a campfire."

It looks like a Saturn GT car. Sorry, a stolen Saturn rental car converted to race in the El Salvadorian GT championship!

Is that Visqueen on the splitter? Or is it Sears Satin Finish paint?

I am just floored by the hideousness of this thing. My God, what are they thinking?

WTF is that thing? I admit I don't follow motorsports as much as I used to because I'm unsure if it's going to die or be reborn, but that POS looks like it was was birthed by high school shop students with a JC Whitney wing, a few cans of flat black spray paint and some bits from Home Depot.

BTW, I had no idea Nacab allowed front splitters. It's about time they moved ahead in that department. I'll miss the old tape on the grill fiasco of past.

They plan to save money by making that huge splitter out of $330 a sheet plywood that is a royal pain in the ass to work with?

Who manufactures JabRock anyway? I might want to buy some stock...

It ain't easy to find...

I wonder if there are any rumors about Erin Crocker being pregnant in that thread. :gomer:

Anyway, my favorite line:

Ray sure hasn't paid a 100th the attention to his other development driver, Anthony Foyt, IV, who is where? Oh right he's out of a ride and has been for most of the season. Guess Anthony wouldn't put out.

WTF is the wood splitter on the front? Is it the "shelf" at the bottom, the "bumper" up top, or the panel in between?

Is it really made out of wood?

Why, FFS?

The bottom surface of most splitters are made of laminated wood-product - "Jabroc" - which is designed to create a replaceable wear area. If it was all carbon fiber, the splitter would be basically destroyed every race from the natural scrapes and slides across the pavement during the course of the weekend. By using sections of wood, the worn out areas can be easily replaced.

When the wood scrapes the track, it creates puffs of white smoke and a distinctive burnt wood odor... hence Kevin Harvick's "campfire" comment

Of course, this applies only to the splitters I've seen and/or heard about. It would not shock me if NASCAR decided to make the whole thing out of lumber :gomer:

Put a #8 on that rear wing and it will be on every deck lid where gomers live.
