And equally unlikeable. Holy crap you have a 6 foot putt for the win and the look on your face is just like you were told somebody ran over your dog!

What a jerk!

That's mainly why I can't root for the guy (that and I've been a Nicklaus fan all of my life). I respect the guy's ability and achievements, but he's so focused on his game that he just doesn't seem human. He's not really a jerk, he just comes across like one. The British Open @ Hoylake was the only exception.

I became a lot less of a Nicklaus fan when he said, after Tiger won the British this year, "I would have won more if I had known Tiger was going to come along."

What an absolute jerkhole thing to say. Guy just won the British after losing his father and all Jack can think about is his precious record.

(and no, he didn't say this in a joking tone, at ALL)

Not that I'm a big Tiger fan or anything... Justin Leonard is my guy :shakehead

I don't believe Tiger or Jordan ever deliberately tried to take out one of their opponents on their way to the Pantheon of Sports heroes either....

Schumi? :shakehead

Ouch. He *did* win the Ryder one year for the US. A hundred years ago I think.

He was on the U.S. Ryder Cup team, and he has won the Open Championship as well....

Interesting. I didn't hear those comments (nor do I watch a ton of golf, but I usually catch the majors). Everytime I've heard Jack talk about Tiger chasing his records, he's always been supportive of Tiger (and we usually hear more from and about Jack around here). When you consider Jack's records in addition to his 2nd and 3rd place finishes in majors, it's simply incredible...also considering how little golf he played towards the end of his career from ~'76-'86. The '86 Masters is still one of the most special sporting events I've ever witnessed.

Does Justin Leonard still play golf? :(
