I don't know what's more incorrect - the "Curtis" headline or using "protege" as a verb, and not even the right verb to begin with, in the following statement:

as Evernham devoted more and more time to protege Erin Crocker

BTW, the right verb isn't "mentor," either.

:D

"Curtis Mayfield the loser in bitter Ray Evernham split"

well at least they didn't say something like "... bitter Ray Charles split"

RIP Curtis

Darkest of night
With the moon shining bright
There's a set goin' strong
Lotta things goin' on
The man of the hour
Has an air of great power
The dudes have envied him for so long

(Chorus)
Oooh, Superfly
You're gonna make your fortune by and by
But if you lose, don't ask no questions why
The only game you know is Do or Die
Ah-ha-ha

Hard to understand
What a hell of a man
This cat of the slum
Had a mind, wasn't dumb
But a weakness was shown
'Cause his hustle was wrong
His mind was his own
But the man lived alone

Chorus

The game he plays he plays for keeps
Hustlin' times and ghetto streets
Tryin' ta get over
(That's what he tryin' to do, y'all)
Taking all that he can take
Gambling with the odds of fate
Tryin' ta get over (4x)
Woo, Superfly

The aim of his role
Was to move a lot of blow
Ask him his dream
What does it mean?
He woudn't know
"Can't be like the rest"
Is the most he'll confess
But the time's running out
And there's no happiness

Chorus
Superfly (4x)

"Tryin' ta get over..."

I don't think they are using "protege" as a verb there, bud...read it like this...

"as Evernham devoted more and more time to his protege, Erin Crocker"

Either is correct... :p

It says "Jeremy Mayfield the loser in bitter Evernham split" now.

I guess somebody edits, eventually.

Has Jeremy Mayfield ever left a team on decent terms?

'Intimidator' Dale Earnhardt still having impact

Probably not the best choice of words, either. Canada has :gomer: too?

There used to be a brand of condoms called "Mentor". I would bet that's where the mentor part of their relationship comes in. There's a pic of Crocker and Evernham somewhere walking down the pitlane holding hands. The boss is hittin' it.

Have you seen what happens to diet coke when you drop a mentor into a 2 litre bottle? I wonder if Erin would fizz like that.....oops. :p

sorry, I apologize to the entire forum. :gomer:
