The IndyCar Series and Daytona International Speedway are in discussions regarding a compatibility test at Daytona International Speedway in September.

The potential visit would allow IndyCar Series officials to determine the possibility of Daytona International Speedway to serve as a preseason testing venue.

“We’re happy to hold discussions with the Indy Racing League on the possibility of using Daytona as a testing venue in the future,” said DIS President Robin Braig.

Is this a precursor to the IRL racing at Daytona?

Something just popped into my mind :What is the chance of the France family buying the IRL?

Terrible idea, racing there would remind me of driving Talladega in IndyCar Racing II when your average speeds were about 270mph per lap, suicide on wheels.

They'll just mandate a wing angle and run wide open at 210 mph. Dumb!

That and run the road course so they can be futile on the banking and on the right turns at the same time. :shakehead

From a marketing perspective this makes a bit of perverse sense. The perfect place for the IRL to glom off NASCAR would be to have "Spring Training" during Speedweeks at Daytona. Every circus can always add a new freak to the sideshow.
