Dating to the years 800 -1000, found in a bog in Ireland. The strange coincidence is that it was opened to psalm 83, "...in which God hears complaints of other nations' attempts to wipe out the name of Israel."

Funny how things like that occur.

Very kool. Can't wait to see what the analysis and translations say and how close they remain to todays Psalms and Old Testament. Very interesting, and from Ireland, wild.

That's kind of a running theme, though; many similar passages. :)

Doesn't surprise me (if it's legit) that it was found in Ireland. Do the years 800-1000 coincide with St Patrick?

Good thing the owner of the bog had the presence of mind to keep the book covered in wet earth until the experts arrived - if it had dried out, it would have literally turned to dust.

No, St. Patrick lived much earlier, here's a link:St. Patrick (http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=89)

It must be a good week for bible finds.

Old Bible found in Dump (http://www.comcast.net/news/strange/index.jsp?cat=STRANGE&fn=/2006/07/29/444659.html)

DANVILLE, Va. - Electrician Michael Hoskins is not averse to browsing when he drops off trash at the Route 41 dump bin, and a recent visit rewarded his curiosity. Hoskins said he discovered a 188-year-old King James Bible. Now he's fending off offers approaching $1,000 for the find.
