So, Tony George and the IRL are starting an endurance race to create a market for used crapwagons?

Some nice turn names on the track map.

So does this pay points toward a Grand Am championship?

My last one was beat up pretty bad, and I still managed to get $2100 for it, so thats out.

I don't know what you'd buy for $500 that could win. Maybe a Fiero or something.

 Is this for real? If so, I'm down for this mess. I think the race will end after 8 hours when no one is left. :shakehead

I guess the ACO was serious about lowering costs after all...

How the heck can you prove that you paid $500 for the car? Receipts between individuals buying/selling a car are usually BS anyways.

My guess is by looking at it.

They said safety equipment and tires aren't part of the equation, so that would help things as far as outspending the competition.

I think if you show up with a 93 BMW then you didn't buy it for $500, but show up with an 83 Fiat then maybe you did! I want to find a late 70's Honda or early 80's Rabbit and giddy up. But, for comedy aspect I want to try and find a Renault Le Car!

Fio, you find a car and I will partner with you and split the costs.

Seriously, though, there appear to be two racing sessions, even though they call it qa 24 hour race...the sessions are Saturday 4:00PM to 11:00PM, then Sunday 8:00AM to 4:00PM. That's 15 hours racing s****boxes. 15 hours of coolant, oil, and brake fluid on the track. Sounds a little scary!

I looked through the FAQ's...here's the BEST rule they have:

WILL MY CAR DIE? Oh, almost definitely. And, even if it survives on the track, halfway through the race one entry will be chosen by popular ballot for immediate crushing. Could be yours. Heck, it probably WILL be yours. Be prepared.

Yep. All P2 teams not running a Porsche or Acura are also invited. :)

Yeah, right. Heard that before. :p We're not talking PTG-like levels of preparation, here.

We should start a Offcamber.net team and let anyone who wants to drive, drive. Heck, they said you can buy a Nascar license for $75 without having any crudentials what so ever. :saywhat: That explains a lot actually....

  But by the end, no one will notice, as they will have all dropped out.
