I'm surfing the cable last night and run across The Golf Channel. Here is this dude interviewing this blonde chick, must be a groupie? Nope. Not bad, looks like the LPGA has improved a bit.

Michelle Wie is a lovely young lady as well. She's only 16, so I'll leave it @ that. :)

Was listening to a golf show on the radio over the weekend (only thing on when I was heading out to go scuba diving), and these guys were making the argument that Tiger Woods and Phil Mickleson have done more damage to the PGA than good. The argument was that in the 80's and 90's, while the European tour was building up names and paying their celebrities appearance money for every tourney, the PGA was marketing the game and keeping the focus off the individuals. This strategy worked, and as the European tour celebs retired, they were not replaced, leaving the European tour to languish in obscurity as the PGA gained popularity. But then Tiger and Phil gained their celeb status on their own, and now the PGA depends on them to keep their numbers. The thought is that this situation is not sustainable, especially with Phil being a headcase lately and Tiger potentially missing more cuts this year as he gets his head around losing his dad.

The tie-in is that they are saying the LPGA is making the exact same mistake as the Euro tour made and the PGA stumbled into, promoting the hell out of a 15 year old girl phenom. All is good for them as long as Michelle Wie continues on the LPGA, but as she starts winning tournaments and gains more noteriety, she could pull the cork out of the bottom of the LPGA barrel if she makes a legitemate run at playing with the guys in the PGA. She looks like another Tiger or Lebron in the making.

Sorry. I'll try to stay on topic from now on. :D
