FORSYTHE: Neil Micklewright deserves kudos for bringing on A.J. so fast with a win. It was also gratifying to see Tara Ragan, who has worked with Dinger since he was 16 years old, recognized by A.J. for her help with his PR. They showed themselves to be the class of the field.

Is this the same Tara that ran the 7th Gear forums? Just curious.

Yes it is. She was the one who gave him the kiss on the top of the head when he pulled into victory lane.

She was RuSport PR, got fired, but AJ lept her on as personal PR (A sign of contention betwen Carl and AJ?) when he moved over to FCR he took her with him.

Why so? I've heard her bashed a lot but I never knew what was at the root of it. Met her very briefly at Nazareth a few years ago, but did not form much of an impression.

I ran into her at LBGP'04 for all of 3 seconds while tagging along with manic & anaya. At that point, however, I just had two things on my mind: a) need to get a t-shirt. b) where to buy some overpriced bottled water?

OK, so from this thread http://www.offcamber.net/forums/showthread.php?t=8516&page=1&pp=25&highlight=taraI I take it Tara may have taken Toyota money to use her site to promote Toyota and the IRL and instead the forums melted down?

All I remember of the last days of 7G is Paper losing his mind and PTs mom getting banned for dropping f bombs.

Don't know bout that but her ex-hubby of like 1.5 years or less was JPM's "bitch boy" for a bit.

Rumor was they married so he could stay in the states a while, never confirmed.

Then Ragan showed up, hmmmmmmmmmmmm, maybe it was Ragan who got the gummie.

I don't have an opinion one way or another on Tara, but I've found that I've immediately disliked 99% of the public relations, marketing, media, and journalism people in professional road racing that I've met. Anyone else feel this way?

Especially the Gainsco DP guy. :gomer:

I do agree though somewhat, many can be a little too impressed with themselves and their position/access.

I have known and worked with Tara for a number of years and have nothing but good things to say about her.

cuz of the &^%^*( politician in AZ who was against a proposed street race and then changed his mind saying "I don't care if they race frogs".

I kinda like the frog in overalls decal they had on some of the cars. It would make a cute t-shirt.

THE FROGS HAVE IT

All 18 cars in tomorrow’s race will be running special “frog” decals. What’s with the frogs? They’re a nod to the recent comments of Arizona state senator Robert Blendu regarding the proposed Champ Car street race in Phoenix. Earlier this month, Blendu wrote an op-ed piece in The Arizona Republic in which he was sharply critical of the proposed event, siting the notoriously unsuccessful Formula 1 street races in Phoenix in the early ’90s and suggesting the Champ Car street race was simply “revisiting a failed street-race concept.”

Later, when speaking on the Arizona state senate floor with regard to legislation that would have effectively banned street races in the state (legislation that, in the opinion of Champ Car and the proposed race’s promoters, was drafted at the behest of lobbyists working at the behest of Phoenix International Raceway, the International Speedway Corporation and NASCAR), Blendu changed his tune. Saying he had been fed “rhetoric” about the evils of street racing when he wrote his op-ed piece, Blendu has since reversed field and now supports the efforts of Champ Car and promoter Dale Jensen to stage the race as part of a $300 million investment in downtown Phoenix.

“As far as I’m concerned, I don’t care if he (Jensen) wants to race frogs,” said Blendu.

Hence the decals.

So he had his own PR person (who I have no issues with BTW), involved with him independently of a team off and on since he was 16, but not his own agent?

Let alone said PR person running a CART promotion and discussion site. Or did she drop her 7G involvement after she got involved with Dinger's PR?
